This is the funniest slide ive ever seen. 100 extra healthy years and only 8% of people would be willing to pay as much as a mid-range car payment. For ~35% of boomers it’s worth less than they are almost certainly currently spending for terrible cable TV.
@fromedome' Consumer Trends: 2025 Mid-Year Report is out. Here are two slides that caught my eye. Meta AI is second in awareness to ChatGPT. Gen Z and Millennials are very comfortable using AI in customer service and shopping.
To those of you who follow me for pet market stuff, apologies how far I’ve drifted from my mandate. That said, have never seen more interesting stuff going on than rn. If youre active in space as either investor or operator (or aspiring operator), DM me! Would love to trade notes
My hot take is Kevin did a better job than almost any other comparable apparel ceo. He raised ~$165M total including the ipo, has bought back at least $65m in stock, & mkt cap is still $3B today. Compare to the other 2015 high fliers. Allbirds? Forever 21? Apparel is fickle 🤷♂️
In 2015, Under Armour was worth $19B. 📈 Beat Adidas in the U.S. 🏀 Steph Curry signed 📦 $1B+ in footwear revenue 📈 Stock at $53.78 👀 Everyone thought it was the next Nike Then CEO Kevin Plank made $710M of mistakes … and lost $17 BILLION in market cap. He bought 3…
I was gifted two guns within a month of moving to Texas and I think it’s more or less due to this:
In Austin, you can pick between dating a guy who owns guns or a guy who will Venmo you $2.44 for lemonade
I can’t tell if this is a joke. But if you’re hiding out in gold I’d maybe reconsider your store-of-value strategy. Gold: $107K/kg Mercury:~$20-50/kg
Congrats to the team at @MarathonFusion for identifying a plausible, scalable process for transmuting mercury into gold. This is something that drove Isaac Newton insane.
Nominative determination chalks up another huge win
Just found out that this is their Head of Internal Affairs.
What are we even doing anymore. This is extremely messed up
🚨 NEW PARLAY: Astronomer CEO + Chief People Officer divorce?
Okay I kind of want one of these enormous tigers. That thing is awesome
Face the tiger (we got the footage from their office)
Is being afraid of Minneapolis a thing?! 😂
Lovely night in Minneapolis, apologies to all the people who are afraid to come here 🫶
In all seriousness, imagine owning a stock down 95% since ipo and they tell you they’re gonna put a dog and a dog telepath on salary to advise mgmt rather than buy back shares
Humanization of pets trend continues apace
There’s almost no one left in this country who can do math
*POWER OUTAGE RISKS INCREASE BY 100% BY 2030: US ENERGY DEPT so... one constant power outage?
You can do this in a normal neighborhood with real houses and schools too, just fyi. Still works just as well and the benefit is your kids also get to go to school
One of the most underrated things you can do is buy unwanted land with your friends and build a compound. We bought this for $7,500 an acre 66+ acres… two families building from scratch.
Imagine still having a late teens/early 20’s metabolism and dunking the ball like this
If you're not optimistic about Gen z guys I think you're just objectively wrong
Kind of crazy story underneath a deal announcement in the @danprimack newsletter this AM: Eton (the dress shirt co) had their lenders force a sale. EQT (PE owner) drove the process, and a consortium of individual investors bought it, mostly made up of current EQT employees (!!).
