OpenAI for empowerment for everyone:
I will officially start at OpenAI as CEO of Applications on August 18. I am sharing this essay on why I believe AI can be the greatest source of empowerment for all. 🧵 openai.com/index/ai-as-th…
ChatGPT for learning life-changing skills:
This is so beautiful. And at the same time: this is just the beginning <3 An entire generation of autodidacts will emerge with the help of AI.
ChatGPT agent for finding a great Airbnb:
Wow. Just used @OpenAI agent to find an airbnb for an event in October and ended up booking the agent’s 1st recommendation. Gut checked by scouring airbnb manually before looking at its results (to test it). Agent got it right on the first try. Took agent ~10 min. Normally…
ChatGPT agent for investment banking:
these results were eye-opening for me... chatgpt agent performed better than i expected on some pretty realistic investment banking tasks
ChatGPT agent for working with Excel, Powerpoint, etc.:
I had early access & ChatGPT agent is, I think, a big step forward for getting AIs to do real work Even at this stage, it does a good job autonomously doing research & assembling Excel files (with formulas!), PowerPoint, etc. It gives a sense of how agents are coming together
official results from @atcoder World Tour Finals are in — great results for both humans (#1 and #3 onwards) and AI (#2 in the world!). a milestone for AI for solving hard problems.
Update: I'm alive and well The results are official now and my lead over AI increased from 5.5% to 9.5%😎 Honestly, the hype feels kind of bizarre. Never expected so many people would be interested in programming contests. Guess this means I should drop in here more often👀
When we founded OpenAI (10 years ago!!), one of our goals was to create an agent that could use a computer the same way as a human — with keyboard, mouse, and screen pixels. ChatGPT Agent is a big step towards that vision, and bringing its benefits to the world thoughtfully.
ChatGPT Agent: our first AI with access to a text browser, a visual browser, and a terminal. Rolling out in ChatGPT Pro, Plus, and Team today.
congrats to @FakePsyho for claiming the top spot on the @atcoder World Finals programming competition (followed by OpenAI at #2)!
Humanity has prevailed (for now!) I'm completely exhausted. I figured, I had 10h of sleep in the last 3 days and I'm barely alive. I'll post more about the contest when I get some rest. (To be clear, those are provisional results, but my lead should be big enough)
we're competing in the @atcoder World Finals programming contest. real nailbiter — OpenAI has been #1 for most of the contest. looked like it might be over when @FakePsyho pulled ahead, but we've just retaken the lead. 1 hour and 20 minutes to go!
【AWTF2025】 The finals begin tomorrow! Both days will be streamed live! Twelve top finalists will compete in each of the Heuristic and Algorithm divisions. Don't miss the intense battles live from Shibuya! ▼ July 16 – Heuristic Division 📺 youtube.com/live/TG3ChQH61…
We've published a position paper, with many across the industry, calling for work on chain-of-thought faithfulness. This is an opportunity to train models to be interpretable. We're investing in this area at OpenAI, and this perspective is reflected in our products:
I am extremely excited about the potential of chain-of-thought faithfulness & interpretability. It has significantly influenced the design of our reasoning models, starting with o1-preview. As AI systems spend more compute working e.g. on long term research problems, it is…
we're also building out our physical infrastructure team — welcome to many amazing new team members!

ChatGPT for solving a longstanding medical problem:
this story is going wildy viral on reddit. ChatGPT flagged a hidden gene defect that doctors missed for a decade. ChatGPT ingested the patient’s MRI, CT, broad lab panels and years of unexplained symptoms. It noticed that normal serum B12 clashed with nerve pain and fatigue,…
