General smartarse cracks wise in assault-proof environment.
A very, very impressive amount of pretending not to understand things we do understand very well, today. And the intensity! Very well done.
This piece is designed to not only give cover for Keir Starmer but David Lammy and Yvette Cooper, too. Multiple half truths, equivocations, and "I don't know the truth of the matter, I haven't seen the intelligence." Well, look it up!!

Aid organizations report that thousands of children in Gaza are at risk of starvation while trucks full of food sit waiting across the border. The full flow of humanitarian assistance must be restored immediately. news.un.org/en/story/2025/…

Your reminder that the "soft left" barely exists outside of the media's imagination and is certainly not organisationally robust enough to fight anyone. The mystery of the missing "soft-right" is easily explained: they're all in the Labour Party furiously fighting the left.
when people say “well the government can’t really do anything about it” a nice easy thing they could do is stop training IDF soldiers in this country
This morning a British dr who has just returned from Gaza explained how IDF soldiers play a game when they shoot Palestinian kids - one day they'll shoot them in the head, the next day in the chest, & so on @adilray asks @peterkyle, should we be training IDF soldiers in the UK?
Really? I can believe it. This is the inevitable endgame of the nutter right wing faction of the Labour Party having the fright of their lives with Corbyn, and doubling down on literally everything he isn't - subsequently becoming the stewards of death and misery for many.
Say it everyday but I truly can’t believe Starmer chose this to be his legacy. Starving an imprisoned population will define his premiership. Taking office after 14 miserable years was the widest open goal in history and this is what you did with it. The shame is beyond words
Compare the draconian attacks on the Palestine solidarity movement with the response - the apologism, the excuses, the outright support - to these violent, neo-Nazi-led riots.
The comforting myth that racist riots are being fuelled by "disinformation" when really they are fuelled by what is said by mainstream politicians in government and the mainstream media who is unable to hold them to account As you were...
The British press actively and deliberately inciting racist riots again

you can see how the circling of the media-political wagons over the last fifteen or so years has had deleterious effects for everyone. the knee-jerk anti-popular and anti-democratic impulses from inside the circle are just one of the most visible downstream effects
there was also much much much more open debate and questioning in the media re wtf is going on here exactly. my hunch is the quiescence of the media and that of the PLP are two aspects of the same underlying political degeneration.
It’s going to have to get more astronomically stupid than ever before
Are political reporters going to acknowledge that Corbyn has been proved right on several key issues, and that demand for a left alternative is driven by real anger at both genocidal foreign policy and cruel domestic policy, or is it all just going to get fucking stupid again
Farage is a media construct. You need to attack the media. Start by recommissioning Leveson II.

Idk man, a population about to be wiped out due to enforced starvation and routinely being hunted by state of the art military equipment while looking for food seems like a pretty important global event
The western left has lost its mind on Palestine. It has become issue number one, which when you consider everything else happening in the world right now, is totally insane.
this was on the 18th of october
Imo it was apparent from the first week grave crimes were being committed. Turning off power and water was a genocidal act, politicians and military leaders expressed clear genocidal intent. I'd really like to hear the argument it wasn't apparent by November 2023.
re sudden flurry of (a) liberal media noticing that something horrific is taking place (b) politicians & establishment figures demanding recognition for Palestine: it's tempting (and, in fact, correct) to treat all this with scepticism/cynicism but that is not the whole story. >>
