Researching the mainstreaming of reactionary & far right politics - co-convenor @reacpolrn - 📚 Reactionary Democracy w. @aaronzwinter ➡️ http://bit.ly/342QXq2
Quite a few new followers in the past couple of days so I thought I should let you know what you've signed up for Much my work and tweeting on racism, populism and mainstreaming derives from Reactionary Democracy, co-authored with @aaronzwinter 🧵 1/ versobooks.com/products/837-r…
It is simply remarkable how much the recent pivots to condemning Israel are premised on fabricating a recent watershed, on summoning a new history of events. Hind Rajab was killed a year and a half ago. The ICJ case was filed in 2023.
Demands couched in racism, transphobia, ableism etc are never 'legitimate concerns' They are a direct threat to marginalised communities whose access to public discourse has been consciously limited and as such a direct threat to democracy It shouldn't have to be said...
The British press actively and deliberately inciting racist riots again
The comforting myth that racist riots are being fuelled by "disinformation" when really they are fuelled by what is said by mainstream politicians in government and the mainstream media who is unable to hold them to account As you were...

You directly enabled this genocide, @BBCNews. No one will forget that.
A joint statement on Gaza from AFP, AP, BBC News and Reuters
The thing about stage 5 of malnutrition is that there are 4 stages before it, and kids have already died in their droves of starvation. There's no reason the world's newspapers couldn't have splashed those images daily, even if our craven politicians don't want to act.
I crochet granny squares to keep my hands busy and stress down. I think I'll use these for fundraising for Palestine ...
Must read: "the enablers cannot allow dissent: since they are silent, they need us to be as well. They cannot be confronted with their own responsibility"
I wrote this to try and get inside the heads of the leaders of major social institutions who effectively support the genocide while claiming to oppose it. This one was a long time in the making. I hope my anger comes through. actualtasks.net/2025/07/23/the…

The UK should immediately recognise Palestine, but there is also a great risk this becomes a way for London (and others) to say it 'did something'. The issue is not simply the recognition of Palestinian statehood - it's taking measures to force Israel to end the occupation.
NEW: Mayor of London @SadiqKhan backs calls for immediate UK recognition of Palestinian statehood. It’s a rapidly growing demand within the Labour Party which may prove harder and harder for Keir Starmer to resist.
This is on you and every other politician who has enabled Israel's genocide.
Civilians cannot be targets. Never. The images from Gaza are unbearable. The EU reiterates its call for the free, safe and swift flow of humanitarian aid. And for the full respect of international and humanitarian law. Civilians in Gaza have suffered too much, for too long.…
Excellent article making clear that, contrary to what they claim, the French government could do far more to stop the genocide than they currently are This is not powerlessness, it's complicity lemonde.fr/international/…

You can always spot a reactionary 'rebel' by looking at who they think holds power Even as mainstream parties, the media and economy are controlled by interests close to their heart, they will keep pretending that the enemy is to be found in marginalised communities or the left
Still waiting for the brave and rebellious reactionary free speech crusaders to say anything about this (insert Voltaire's fake quote)... As should be obvious by now, it was always about racism, transphobia etc for these fascism enablers theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…

The "immigration issue" is a top-down construction to divert attention away from the top-down decisions which are at the roots of deprivation Dividing the working class/the people is the oldest trick in the book and still works wonders unfortunately theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
