Comical that centrist writers are writing off early leftist warnings of Israeli genocide as “the boy who cried wolf” when our analysis was based on an analysis of Zionist political intentions that proved completely accurate.
Very pleased that our Chief Minister has spoken for the Island in expressing our horror and heartbreak at the continuing slaughter in Gaza directly to the Foreign Secretary. The UK government must do much more to use its diplomatic weight to bring an end to this atrocity.

Jersey today showing a moral backbone that is entirely absent among our own political elite here on the Isle of Man

This is the parish in Gaza that Pope Francis would call every night.
Cardinal Pizzaballa: “What we know for sure is that a tank, the IDF says by mistake, but we are not sure about this, they hit the Church directly, the Church of the Holy Family, the Latin Church” Images of the only Catholic Church in Gaza before and after today’s attack.
Yup, govt have just abandoned low earners and families Quite a lot of policies going through Tynwald right now that are doing this

It's beginning to look a little brown across England now due to the lack of rainfall. The last really wet month was September.
This government promised solutions to the housing crisis and has instead failed to approve new social housing developments. This government promised Manx workers a living wage and has failed to deliver on that promise. We’ve seen cuts to benefits and worse social services…
Those voting against are the Members of Tynwald who decided Manx workers shouldn’t be entitled to at least a living wage Absolutely shameful

A road in Pompeii, built before AD 79, the small white stones reflected moonlight, making it easier to see at night.
As bad as plastic is, this would actually be a nightmare. Imagine everything plastic in your home turning moldy. Imagine medical, critical infrastructure, electronics, all disintegrating as plastic gets eaten by fungus. Civilisational dooming stuff right here.
NATURE UNLOCKED GOD MODE ON PLASTIC WASTE Scientists found a fungus in the Amazon called Pestalotiopsis microspora that literally snacks on plastic like it’s lunch. It doesn’t even need oxygen. Just throw it in a landfill, and it gets to work while everything else just vibes.…

An extremely interesting experiment in how a state can guarantee a fair deal for local agricultural producers while producing a product that can effectively compete in the market. If this produces a profit, is good for the agro industry and good for consumers then it’ll provide…
The Mexican government introduces its new chocolate bar, priced at less than $1USD. An equivalent bar from a foreign multinational is about $6USD. Made of 50% cocoa, cane sugar, cocoa butter, powdered milk, vanilla. No refined sugar, no artificial flavourings or colouring
I know that some people feel the need to make fun of the MSPCA for this, but that is misguided. Even within just 10 minutes in 24-degree weather, the temperature inside a car can reach 38C. Within half an hour it can reach 50C. Pets can't pant fast enough to lose heat quickly…

A truly chilling story. Guardian reporting that the Israeli Defence minister has asked IDF to draw up plans to move 600,000 Palestinians to a camp on the ruins of Rafah, something he calls a “humanitarian city.” Once in, they wouldn’t be allowed to leave. theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…
I was always a techno optimist, assumed that the march of technology forward would be enlightening and drive society forward. Not sure how to square that assumption with the emergence of AI Hitler that has access to the information of hundreds of millions of people.
Lmao I see the delicate attempts to fine tune Grok away from a vague progressive bias have gone well
The nationalised industries performed relatively well and achieved feats they simply couldn’t have under private ownership, making for a strong postwar recovery. Yet one of the dominant narratives of 20th century Britain is that ‘nationalisation didn’t work’.
Say what you want about postwar Britain, but most of the nationalized industries — the Gas Boards, Water Boards, the Generating Board, heck even the Railways — actually *worked* unlike so many of today's private entities.
