The extension allowed to ERC applicants does not follow national paternity requirements, but rather the actual time of leave taken by the researcher, which can be longer and even split in different periods.
The extension allowed follows national paternity requirements as the time of leave taken is regulated by law and the law differs per country. A father cannot take more than a week if that's the maximum allowed in that country, while in others is much more. This is the problem.

Before accepting a job offer, go to the toilet of the company. Check the quality of the toilet paper they use. That's a measure of how much they care about their employees
Before accepting a job offer, use this heuristic to find red flags on a company: 1. Search on Linkedin 2. Find people who left the company recently 3. Send them "Hey, I'm about to join company X. What's your experience?" Companies check your references. You should do the same!
