👋 Reluctant member of X. Leasehold drove me here 👋
Just written my first Substack article on how the Grenfell Web of Blame continues. As the govt chooses not to tackle building safety head on, this is causing market failure, exactly what they want to avoid … Pls like & share 🙏 open.substack.com/pub/dominicahe…
Almost the same with Grenfell. Just slightly different, for the worse. They are, if anything remarkably adaptable at skinning matters to their own advantage, wrapping it in bureaucracy and legalese, and presenting it as redress.
Sleight of hand. Muddy waters. Obfuscation. Lots of re traumatised victims. But without doubt the very worst is more of the victims have died without redress.
And what about existing leaseholds? All this does is highlight how bad it is for existing leaseholders. This is nowhere near good enough.
Then why isn't he mentioning any building safety highlights? You'd think the Building Safety minister would be able to articulate some if there are any.
Abolish the freehold-leasehold system of tenure in 🏴🏴and set 5.3mn leaseholders free from lives of servitude to absentee freeholders
Will be able to share more soon, but there is going to be movement on this on our side - myself and others will be speaking up at our National Conference.
Great work @charlieclinton looking forward to hearing more ❤️

More speculative scaremongering. In the meantime in the real world, purchases of leasehold have slumped. Buyers are getting savvy. On the other hand, people are trapped because they can’t sell. The proverbial tinder box is ready to explode.
Convenient delay, inconvenient truth: • 760,000+ leaseholders trapped • Bills in the £100,000s • Mental health in freefall • Children growing up in fire-risk homes And still — silence from those in power. @FreeLeasehlders
🚨 NEW government delays on the leasehold front, conveniently confirmed the day Parliament was closing for summer hols 🚨 The governing powers are confused. And leaseholders aren’t amused. @e_casalicchio has the scoop in Playbook this evening. politico.eu/newsletter/lon…
East Village, London A lawyers dream as the battle to determine liability to make our homes fire safe rages on… Leaseholders remain trapped #BuildingSafetyCrisis
The very worst thing for cladding/BSA hostage leaseholders about the Labour government is the absolute loss of hope. When anger turns to electoral punishment they will only have themselves to blame.
Today is our last chance to make our feeling known about the CMA accepting this bribe, by emailing [email protected] Use the Heading: Case 51392 – Response to housebuilders proposed commitments’.
ICYMI: Affordable #housing set to benefit from £100 million following CMA probe: gov.uk/government/new… This week, our Chief Executive spoke to @SkyNews about our latest action in the #housebuilding sector.
I would delete false promises ! we want action on leasehold not empty words
He and Lib dems need to step up as an opposition. Time to show their metal and make the media notice them. @BBCNews seems to prefer interviewing reform who have less seats. Come on ED do something & get @AngelaRayner to do something.
@mtpennycook - I would delete leasehold to make Earth better. How about you? (Don’t say my account).
Name one thing.....!
If you’re not already give Dominic a follow He brings receipts in regards to the Building Safety Crisis.
Yes true, thanks for pointing out. It's also staggering the Govt apparently don't have accurate numbers for medium and low rise so many years after Grenfell...
I cite the #BuildingSafetyCrisis as being on par with the #Asbestos scandal Responsible parties knew there was an issue but failed to act When will a wider inquiry take effect & impacted families be compensated.
760k is only for high rise, imagine the total numbers for medium a low rise apartment blocks. This is a national disgrace.
@EdwardJDavey missed the Post Office Scandal but knows about the Building Safety Scandal... Post Office (Horizon): ~10,000 Infected Blood: ~30,000 Windrush: ~57,000 Building Safety +760,000 What do you think @LibDems @charlieclinton @VikkiSlade72? Time to speak up?
The Building Safety Scandal affects 760,000+ leaseholders — far more than any other scandal in modern UK history. @EdwardJDavey may have missed Horizon, but he knows about this. @LibDems @charlieclinton @VikkiSlade72 — will you speak up, or stay silent?
