An idiosyncratic algorithm has ranked me number one in the world for research in human genetics: ucl.ac.uk/biosciences/ne…
On Saturday, we raised the Druze flag in solidarity with a persecuted minority facing a real genocide. The footage emerging from Syria—showing Druze civilians being butchered by Islamists - is utterly horrifying. Yet we never see the pro-Pals showing the slightest concern. In…
Now published in Acta Neuropsychiatrica - a huge study of nearly half a million people fails to find any evidence that rare damaging variants in any gene impact risk of depression. cambridge.org/core/journals/…
Fuck you CNN. There’s not a shred of journalism in this headline – it’s pure propaganda.
Seriously, how did we get to the point where Hamas can make any random claim of IDF atrocities it likes and the BBC will simply publish it as headline news? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Notable: "We believe that this reply is the first peer-reviewed academic paper to state explicitly that Caster Semenya, and similarly placed athletes, are male, not female ..."
Here is my latest paper, published today in the Journal of the Philosophy of Sport and co-authored with Dr Emma Hilton @fondofbeetles from Manchester University. I would like to thank @OpenUniversity for their ongoing support of my research tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
We are seeing reports from media outlets alleging deaths near our sites today, according to Hamas (except they still call it the Gaza Health Ministry). These reports are false. Had the reporters bothered to reach out we would have told them this. Outlets like the @AP and…
In Alzheimer’s disease, amyloid is the “match” that lights the “brush fires” of tangles that spread. One only has enough neuronal and synapse loss to get dementia when the “wildfire” of neuroinflammation is ignited in reponse. Otherwise, no dementia. Read about “resilience”..
If neuroinflammation is the problem why aren’t Alzheimer’s brains swollen rather than atrophied? Tau tangles clearly correlate with symptoms but how are they toxic? Neuronal loss and cortical atrophy are due to microtubule depolymerization, reversed by Transcranial ultrasound.

It's very hard to see how Dr Upton can have any kind of career as doctor. His best chance would be to massively apologise and admit his mistakes. The NHS hierarchy did him no favours by trying to "be kind" instead of calling out his bullshit
"PAs and AAs have been regulated by the General Medical Council, the body which also regulates doctors, since December 2024." This is just completely untrue, isn't it? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Minor ailments in adults…like ‘calf pain’ for example 👉 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
4/ The “no undifferentiated patients” recommendation? It contains a glaring exception: “minor ailments in adults”. Many life-threatening conditions start that way — breathlessness, cough, headache, rash. This loophole is dangerous.
ISIS imposed a fatwa in Mosul, Iraq, mandating that all women and girls undergo female genital mutilation (FGM). This directive affected nearly 4 million females, marking a horrifying escalation in the group's systematic abuse. Despite international condemnation Where is the…
The majority of the general public have no idea what it takes to become a senior doctor: the risks taken, the skill, the impossible decisions taken, the procedural dexterity etc. Medicine is being degraded & taskified to its detriment - be careful what you all wish for
A young family moved into a house next door to an empty plot. One day, a gang of building workers turned up to start building on the plot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and started talking with the…
Usually, I don’t waste my time replying to people who’ve never opened a history book, let alone lived the consequences of the policies they smugly critique from the comfort of a Western suburb. But today, let me educate you - just once. In 1948, five Arab armies went to war -…
Tell us again what ur country& others were doing for the last 77 years while Palestinians were brutalised&subjugated? Don’t talk shit when no one had the balls to stand up for Palestinians so they had to break the chains the only way they could! With ppl like u who needs enemies?
The further irony of thinking patient satisfaction has any bearing of QUALITY of care. Someone could be the nicest HCA who is the favourite member of staff of all the patients. Good to have as a comforter. Not much use as a clinical decision maker or diagnostician
🧵 THREAD: Physician Associates assessing ADHD at SWYPFT – what’s really going on? Mike raises serious concerns, and he’s right to.
South West Yorkshire NHS Trust (@allofusinmind) employs 12 Physician Associates in its ADHD service They can't prescribe or diagnose ("PAs do not provide diagnoses"). Only 5 are @gmcuk registered Still, they assessed 435 new patients in the last 12 months. Doctors saw just 82!
