Preprint alert! Led by Shannon Rhoads, we used 🌈🔬 to elucidate the #organelle signatures of #neurons and #astrocytes at baseline and in response to neurodegenerative-disease associated stressors. See Shannon's awesome tweetorial below! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Check out our preprint using imaging-omics to characterize the #OrganelleSignature - the morphology interactions & distribution of #ER❤️ #Lysosomes🩵 #Mitochondria💚 #Peroxisomes🧡 #Golgi💛 & #LipidDroplets🩷 - of live #neurons and #astrocytes! doi.org/10.1101/2024.1… 🧵1/11
The count down has begun! 1-week until the 1st FASEB Ferroptosis conference! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting. Get excited!! 🤩 events.faseb.org/event/11797f9e…
Excellent example of the core issue I was trying to get at wrt "virtual cells" - optimizing a prediction objective will not necessarily provide an accurate representation of physical or biological phenomena. It's extremely important to be very clear about this. 1/
Can an AI model predict perfectly and still have a terrible world model? What would that even mean? Our new ICML paper formalizes these questions One result tells the story: A transformer trained on 10M solar systems nails planetary orbits. But it botches gravitational laws 🧵
While I’m a big fan of new technologies that help us study human biology…there’s still no replacement for animal research! I wrote an article outlining this in @GENbio genengnews.com/topics/transla…

Journal of Cell Science is published by a not-for-profit charitable organisation (@Co_Biologists) that exists to benefit science, not shareholders. We provide Travelling Fellowships, Training Grants, support for ECRs and more. For details, visit: journals.biologists.com/jcs/pages/reas…
Speak up for science! Proposed cuts to NIH & NSF threaten critical research. Call your lawmakers—especially if they’re on Appropriations—and urge them to protect funding. Act now: ascb.org/society-news/p…
Our lab @EmoryUniversity is hiring a research technician! This position is ideal for someone who enjoys research, organization, and working in a team. Come for a few years and publish with us, or stay to build a career. staff-emory.icims.com/jobs/149068/job

🚨 New review out in Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology! Expert recommendations for studying organelle contact sites and introduce the concept of organelle contactome 🧬nature.com/articles/s4158… Huge thanks to editor Lisa Heinke for the support and guidance! 🙏@NatRevMCB
Following on from their successful meeting in 2023, @J_Cell_Sci are delighted to announce a second iteration of the Imaging Cell Dynamics meeting to be held in 2026. Find out more and sign up for registration and abstract updates at biologists.com/meetings/jcsim… #JCSimaging
This is the most Israeli thing I’ve seen. Taken at the Weizmann Institute of Science, following the Iranian attack.
My lab was totally destroyed tonight by an Iranian missile. Nobody was hurt. Flies, plasmids, cells, equipment - all gone. Heart breaking. If during the course of the past 16 years, you have received something from my lab - please keep them safe.
Thank you to everyone who reviewed for @J_Cell_Sci! Your efforts have funded the restoration and preservation of ancient woodland (in the beautiful Lake District). 🌳 🌲 #PeerReview #forestofbiologists
We've just released another set of peer reviewer trees. Each digital tree represents a real-life tree in Great Knott Wood that is being protected, thanks to the important work of our peer reviewers. Check out the full #forestofbiologists on forest.biologists.com/landscape @Co_Biologists

Thrilled this paper is out! We solved the first cocrystal structure of FSP1 with an inhibitor (FSEN1), providing mechanistic insight & a foundation for medchem. Led by @AMegarioti & Sitao Zhang. A terrific collaboration with Da Jia. Brief Tweetorial! 1/9 pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
