Also this is a reminder that stylus writing is life and I will never, never go back to tap-tap-tapping away like the animals do, so the typos are have to stay.
Yes.
Palmer, of course, thought the worst & most unnecessary part of his job as PM was to explain what he was doing to the media and public. I wrote about the lack of a link between transparency and supreme bill of rights here thespinoff.co.nz/media/25-08-20…
so? the japanese heard jazz fusion for the first time in like 1975 and they absolutely cooked with it for the next 50 years. italians got a hold of tomatos 500 years ago and they worked that shit to its absolute civilizational pinnacle. sometimes you just find your niche
Just remember: Not a single European, much less any Italian, had eaten a tomato until the 16th century.
environmentalists think we all snuck one past them getting to own refrigerators and that if things had been done properly you'd need to pass their "cost benefit analysis" to be allowed to own one
freezers proliferated way before the external costs were properly understood, if they were invented now we'd have to do a proper cost benefit analysis as with AC. and likewise when the grid is largely decarbonised then i don't care, put a freezer and an AC unit in every room
ngl i respect this
As a matter of principle I have decided I will peacefully surrender to the Brisbane court on August 6 and accept prison time for contempt of court. I will go to jail in Australia for the crime of holding a blank sign outside the Chinese Consulate, if this is what the government…
I was pretty ambivalent to the changes but given how this government MP views the changes, he's managed to turn me against them. It is unacceptable for anyone, let alone an MP, to lecture anyone on how to vote or how engaged one must be in order to vote.

The only way we keep this grab bag of weirdos, gunzels, libertarians, socialists and whatever else pulling in one direction is by absolutely never under any circumstances loading up YIMBYism with a bunch of other crap
People support housing density if they like cities. The YIMBY movement will go farther if it evolves into a broader “livable cities” coalition. @CSElmendorf and @ProfSchleich show the way ⬇️
Always used to imagine the advances in knowledge then 2020s would bring. Here's a great question I never even thought to ask that might get answered soon.
Is it worse for the long term stability of western democracies if it turns out populists can only be undone by insane conspiracy theories they have lost control of, or if all the political elites are actually revealed to be human traffickers
>researching >stuck >ask a clippy >he has ideas >real sources or hallucinated? they're good sources banana >they're hallucinated >search anyway >leads to EXACTLY what I was looking for >computer fren >how can I thank him >cut a little piece of wire >bend it into a paperclip
I think that in the "normal" timeline we had a full nuclear exchange during the cold war. Everything seems weird and gets continually weirder because we are in a super-low probability reality generated by Stanislav Petrov's impulsive decision to disregard the "incoming" alert.
CERN flipped the switch on the Large Hadron Collider in 2010 and nothing has been right since.

I did a complete watch through of The Cosby Show a little over a decade ago (Hannibal Buress went big during it) and the show is fantastic. Way better than I remembered from childhood.
The saddest part about Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s passing is that there’s a whole generation that will never see his early acting brilliance on the Cosby Show because of what that terrible man did. They won’t be able to watch reruns or watch it on streaming to truly appreciate him 🥺
Hi, ER Doc here. I don’t know who needs to hear this but do NOT even think about it.
Japanese design firm Kenji Abe has designed a glass beer bottle that you can stick into the sand on the beach
the problem with the "alien" "franchise" is that they're trying to build a mythology that explains the alien this is remarkably inferior to the original premise "there is an alien and it kills you"
Yes. Any further questions?
