I'm certain this is a mistake but my book is somehow on Barnes & Noble's list of "Most Anticipated Nonfiction of 2025" (link below). BORN IN FLAMES: The Business of Arson and the Remaking of the American City is out Aug 19th from @wwnorton

I’m very concerned that political leaders are aware that something is happening or about to happen that dwarfs even the horrors we’ve seen every day. This is just speculation on my part to be clear, but the warnings about a mass starvation tipping point have been growing louder.
Actually why is the dam breaking on Gaza so suddenly. This has been going on for nearly two years now.
Many people have seen ICE officers brutally kidnapping people going to immigration court. Fewer seem aware that ICE is then torturing them: caging them in packed holding rooms where they have to sleep upright, don't get fed, can't bathe/change clothes—often for more than a week.
Every editor who canceled a story about Palestine brought us here. Every boss who censored an employee. Everyone who said “not this way” to protesters. Every university admin calling the cops. Bloody. All your hands are bloody, and we will never forget.
Less than three months into the genocide, experts were warning of the coming famine. The slow violence of starvation alongside the active violence of bombs and bullets—all of it by design, all of it in full view of world leaders who caused it or just looked away. Sickening
New Interview: I talked to Arif Husain, the chief economist of the World Food Programme, about the food crisis in Gaza, why it may get worse, and what it means for Gaza’s children. newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/g…
To understand how @ZohranKMamdani won the mayoral primary by a full 12 points last month, it helps to understand how tenants like Ferdousi Begum and Parveg Hasan decided to go on the offensive against real estate. My first for @nybooks, learned so much! nybooks.com/online/2025/07…
Even more than the incessant weapons flows and refusal to demand a ceasefire, I think this has always been the most damning argument for Biden's personal complicity in the genocide. An act of mass starvation carried out directly by the U.S. federal government
The US defunded the primary UN organization feeding the people of Gaza in Jan 2024 and no one batted an eye. They did it to help Israel use aid as a weapon of war. Now as the predicted famine arrives in full everyone is throwing their alibis together and it makes me fucking sick
It’s chilling to watch the people who have cheerled this famine-genocide for two years finally acknowledge the predictable consequences. They sense how history will record this and they want to whitewash their own role in making it happen.
Thank you to @monachalabi for this powerful graphic, which starkly pictures the severity of the Israeli government’s policy of mass death through forced starvation.
Out and forthcoming from @_inquest_: @lydiajean8 @CraigOGilmore Ruth Wilson Gilmore and me on lessons drawn in California, Louisiana, and Central Appalachia from and for abolitionist organizing.
Introducing a new 6-part series revisiting the landmark insights of Ruth Wilson Gilmore's 'Golden Gulag', exploring what prison abolitionists can learn from the history of carceral expansion. With RWG, @CraigOGilmore @lydiajean8 & @judahschept inquest.org/abolitionist-l…
Questions from Gaza's Children as compiled by staff from the Palestine Trauma Centre in Gaza:
This would not have happened without ongoing and relentless pressure from AIDS activists. A major win that will save millions of lives. Protests, disruptions, and civil disobediences all in the tradition of AIDS history made this happen.
#BREAKING: White House agrees to exempt PEPFAR from cuts trib.al/j8Wly01
Andrea Gibson, “Wellness Check” @MRMandell8 — another one worth remembering
Where will be the first city where we see city police in conflict with ICE? Trick question it will never happen, no matter their total disrespect for the law.
🚨 My next book, EXTRACTION: THE FRONTIERS OF GREEN CAPITALISM is out 9/23 with @wwnorton Today and tomorrow, you can pre-order it at 25% off 😊 Link below!
So just so it gets said... Parker admin is borrowing $800m to build new 'affordable' housing that is mostly targeted at 80%AMI and preserve existing housing targeted at 50% AMI but refuses to pay sanitation workers salaries above 40% AMI
THREAD: A senior ICE official just admitted under oath that the U.S. government used the far-right doxxing site Canary Mission to build reports on student protesters—most of them pro-Palestinian. These reports were sent to the State Department to initiate possible…
I am really grateful that people are discovering this horrific info still, because my generation obviously did not successfully convey the histories of these atrocities to the next generation...
Today I learned that the Obama administration’s CIA set up fake hepatitis B vaccine clinics in Pakistan to collect DNA samples in hopes of looking for Bin Laden.. I honestly have no words.
“People who don’t understand how rent works” is a top 10 all time condescending turn of phrase
I normally don’t have much sympathy for people who don’t understand how rent works, but one thing I think neoliberals fail to understand is that not everyone is in an “upward mobility” track. Some people will stay at the same job making roughly their same salary… forever.
Check out this interview with Panagioti Tsolkas on the fight against “Alligator Alcatraz” concentration camp and abolitionist organizing in FL
I interviewed Panagioti Tsolkas, cofounder of Fight Toxic Prisons and Everglades Earth First!, about Alligator Alcatraz and organizing against prisons and ICE detention.
