The Holy Intercession Church in Sutkivtsi in Ukraine looks more a fortress than a church. It was built in 1476 in the time of Tatar raids in the region and originally served as a defensive structure.

My old watercolour of Battle of Piperdean 1435/6 Scots forces, Douglas of Tantallon Castle, Hepburn of Hailes Castle & Ramsay of Dalhousie Castle defeat Sir Robert Ogle & Percy forces marching to seize Dunbar Castle for Scots exile Lord Dunbar who had switched sides to England.

Borthwick Castle (Scotland) @CJMorrison65 image & reconstruction. Nigel Tranter told me the Borthwick family built the Castle on land that had belonged to the Hay family, who built a watermill on their side of the river below the Castle and ran it at night to annoy the Borthwicks

A 1st century AD mosaic fragment from an ornamental fountain in Cremona, Northern Italy. The fountain was destroyed when the city was sacked by Vespasian in AD 69. Now part of the collections of the Superintendency of Archaeology at Cremona. @KPW1453 post/image turned into a Gif.
