Great to get a chance to see so many of my favorite economists this week in Cambridge! Until next time! #NBERSI2025

The cash transfer literature grows! New work generally finds short term evidence on parental stress but a reduction in corporal punishment and an increase in quality of childcare. This is consistent with what we find in Alaska in our working paper @lindsbullinger @kerri_raissian
Treated parents reported better parenting behaviors, with the biggest improvements among the parents with the lowest baseline incomes; monitoring and supervision improved and reports of using corporal punishment fell.
Looking at my credit card statements after saying money isn’t real when you’re in Europe for 2 weeks
Really glad the Trump administration is prioritizing this. BOP/DOC computer systems not accurately calculating inmates' release dates is a shockingly widespread problem. Lots of people are spending more time in prison than they are required to, because of these errors.
hey! (I love you) have you seen this new DiD paper? (I love you)
did you sleep well tonight? (I love you) we should do this one day (I love you) did you eat? (I love you) I brought you this because it's your favorite (I love you) have you taken your vitamins? (I love you)
it's tenured professor, no other answer comes close
what’s it called when you’re super insecure but at the same time you can walk into a room full of people and think you’re better than everyone else?
so much of women’s health stuff is like “yeah we know this because we conducted one study sixty years ago on a single rat. and the rat was male”
1000 low income adults were randomly selected to receive $1000/month for 3 years, with a control group receiving $50/month over that same period. Many of them had children in the household. How did it affect how they parented and their kids?
Sad that Mirya is not on Twitter anymore. I think we would be (could be?) friends. Power, confidence, and authenticity, by @prof_mirya open.substack.com/pub/miryaholma…

The great thing about 🇺🇸 is that the minute you become a U.S. citizen, you are every bit as American as someone who can trace their ancestry to the Mayflower. You become part of a lineage of ambition and freedom that, at its best, encapsulates the grandest aspects of humanity.
People that don’t live here don’t get it. But one of the most amazing and incredible things about the US is that we are relatively very good at being a melting pot.
I think if your family has hundreds of years of history in America you are frankly more American than somebody who migrated to America in 2015.

look guys I know everyone hates the tariffs. But we need to restore manufacturing to the US. and it's not like any American manufacturing companies use these weird metals called "steel", "aluminum", or "copper"
He steered us out of a depression is what he did! He was a practical central banker. And in this house Jerome Powell is a hero- end of story.
Isn’t it weird that no one wants Jerome Powell but he won’t leave? Weird.
This is not my experience with Americans. Though to be fair, all the Americans I know are economists.
The hospital emailed me to let me know they’re open for the Fourth of July. I sure hope so?
Sure we did the biggest cuts to SNAP ever, a program where 40% of recipients are children, but at least in exchange we’re also exploding the national debt
