How many people have to be hurt before USCIS is held accountable for its ever slower processing times? All the talk about wanting the “right foreigners who contribute to society” in the US… everyone of these 80,000 meet this definition…
The U.S. government is set to let as many as 80,000 employment-based green cards expire Friday, leaving foreign workers waiting for a permanent resolution to their immigration limbo on.wsj.com/3zRo8Kh
This has been a dream of mine for over 5 years, and I'm thrilled it's finally coming together. I finally took active steps to publish a book which simplifies and demystifies foreign investment in the U.S. My goal is to break down the complex rules into simple, actionable…
We’re proud to welcome @adrianpandev to the Scribe family! With a decade of experience helping individuals and businesses succeed in the U.S. market, Adrian is writing a book to empower non-citizens with the knowledge they need to grow and thrive. Whether you're already in the…
To be able to enforce @citizenshiptax, Austrlia, Canada and other countries would need to renegotiate their tax treaties to eliminate @taxresidency tie break opportunities. US tax treaties have a #savingclause that prohibits US citizens from EVER ceasing to be US tax residents.
Probably controversial, but I genuinely believe that within the next 5 years: 🇦🇺 Australia 🇨🇦 Canada 🇬🇧 UK 🇪🇺 EU And most Western countries will tax their citizens globally, like the US does. So buy Bitcoin. Get your coins off exchanges. And get to a Bitcoin-friendly…
I have been saying this for years. My guess is 10 years not 5, but I’m also convinced it will happen.

I'm 100% convinced that AI is a major disruptor to the legal industry, but currently you still need someone knowledgeable reviewing its final product. I'm currently working on two separate cases to fix AI-generated work that had significant problems. The first was an evidence…
A partner at a prominent law firm told me “AI is now doing work that used to be done by 1st to 3rd year associates. AI can generate a motion in an hour that might take an associate a week. And the work is better. Someone should tell the folks applying to law school right now.”
Thoughts on the July 25, 2025 ruling from a Dutch court that the FATCA IGAs are NOT affected by the GDPR. In summary - the #FATCA IGAs enforcing US @citizenshiptax must be respected and honoured. citizenshipsolutions.ca/2025/07/27/acc…
Assuming litigation fails (which I doubt), here is how USCIS intends to implement the birthright citizenship EO. Notably, no judge has sided on the government’s side on the merits (only procedure questions), so no need to panic yet! uscis.gov/sites/default/…
Thankfully, the AUSA responded very quickly when we reached out on this lawsuit given the emergency of the Notice of Intent to Rescind. Yet again USCIS "forgot" key language in the NOIR that we have only seen them add after filing suit about REOPENING after recission...
Filed a 2nd suit challenging the APPROVAL of a green card because @USCIS approved in error, and now USCIS will rescind it, leaving the client with no status by no fault of theirs. You can't make this up. #Litigation #AOS If you got a green card when your visa wasn't current, I…
Tax planning as a business owner in non-immigrant status requires understanding the trade-offs. I keep seeing people who want to have their cake and eat it too. Yes, if you are in E, L, O, etc. status and spend fewer than the required days in the US you may qualify as a…
It is NOT good luck if USCIS grants your green card application in error. It can lead to major immigration issues down the line including losing your permanent residence status. If you are in this boat, you should contact a qualified attorney immediately to develop a strategy.

Can someone explain to me why we can’t file all cases online with USCIS? If we can already file certain applications and petitions online, then we clearly have the technology to file everything online. The world has gone paperless and federal courts have had e-filing for ages.…
For any foreign entrepreneur looking to run their own business in the US, consider your visa strategy before forming your company. Different visas have specific company structure requirements that you need to plan for upfront. For example: • L-1 requires common control between…
Wait, let me get this straight... USCIS is using AI to adjudicate complex EB-1A and EB-2 NIW petitions. But we're still paper filing most cases with USCIS and faxing documents to the IRS in 2025? The internet has been around for 3 decades, but we can't get basic online filing…
To everyone out there worried about due process in immigration cases, this is the "due process" being employed by DHS for review of filings. I am livid. Do NOT review an AI summary of my case and then have the AI issue an RFE. I want to know exactly what they use GenAI for.
For years I was wondering how DOS visa fees could stay so cheap with the price of everything else going up (looking at you USCIS). Well it looks like the good times are over and we enter the age of the $250 “visa bond”. Although not a great development, I don’t think the extra…
Under the Trump budget bill, EVERY recipient of a non-immigrant visa (tourist, student, H-1B, etc…) must pay a $250 “visa bond” that can theoretically be reimbursed once the visa expires multiple years later. BUT: people using ESTA (Europeans and others) do NOT have to pay.
Foreign investors are flocking back to US real estate. This is a trend I've been observing over the last 2-3 years. $56 billion in purchases this past year, a 33% increase with 78,100 properties at a record average price of $494,400. But I hope these investors understand the…

This applies perfectly to foreign founders building companies in the US. The journey has ups and downs. I've seen foreign founders partner with the wrong investors, struggle with understanding US business culture, or face immigration setbacks while building their ventures far…
Every successful founder is just someone who failed more times than you did—and kept going.
Perfect example of the nightmare that international taxation can become for any US tax resident. If you are a US tax resident and you are receiving anything of value from a foreigner, make sure you triple check if there any tax / reporting obligations. #Taxtwitter

Thanks for the share and the extra insight on the E-2 I’ll add that not all franchise brands are open to E-2 franchisees (for various reasons) so if you’re considering that route, it’s important to ask the brands development rep the question before getting too emotionally…
Want to know why franchise investments make great E-2 visa cases? Just see @Franchise_BW's post. The E-2 visa requires that you "direct and develop" your US company. Franchises require hands-on management, making it easy to demonstrate you meet this requirement. Plus, most…
Want the brutal truth about 'absentee' franchise ownership? They lure you with promises of passive income, but I've reviewed hundreds of FDDs. Most brands pushing hands-off ownership are just fee factories. Profitable franchises need engaged owners. Period.
Should foreign investors reconsider forming their holding companies in Delaware? Andreessen Horowitz just announced they're changing their state of incorporation from Delaware to Nevada. They join Tesla, Dropbox, and TripAdvisor in leaving Delaware. This trend is real with…
We are moving the state of our incorporation from Delaware to Nevada. It used to be a no-brainer to start a company and incorporate in Delaware. That’s no longer the case. We're not the first - Dropbox, Tripadvisor and Tesla have already left. Why we're moving (and why you…
