⚠️The situation in Lattakia is critical. The wildfires have displaced thousands which requires our immediate unflinching attention. 📢 We allocated these funds to support those impacted & we remain committed to do whatever is within our capacity to support frontline partners.

زار المنسق المقيم ومنسق الشؤون الإنسانية للأمم المتحدة، آدم عبد المولى،وممثلة اليونيسف، ميريتشل ريلانو،و ممثلي وكالات الأمم المتحدة محافظة #إدلب،حيث التقوا بالسيد المحافظ،و مدير منطقة معرة النعمان، وزاروا مركزاً صحياً، ومستشفى، ومتحفاً. والتقوا المجتمع المحلي بما فيه من #الأطفال.
لقاء مثمر مع محافظ حلب السيد عزام الغريب حيث ناقشنا الاحتياجات الإنسانية والتنموية ذات الأولوية ليتسنى للأمم المتحدة المساعدة. استقبلت حلب حوالي 23% من العائدين ويوجد 1.6 مليون نازح تقريباً ما يستلزم مضاعفة الجهود. فخورون بشراكتنا الوثيقة مع السلطات في المحافظة ونتطلع للمزيد.
I participated in the rehabilitation ceremony of the national hospital in Ma’rrat An Nu‘man with H.E. Minister of Health, H.E. Governor of Idlib and NGO HIHFAD. When completed, it will serve 400,000 persons in the district. The UN commits to supporting its operation.
1/2 of Syria’s hospitals are non-functioning & 15.8 M Syrians need health assistance. In Ma'arrat An Nu'man, I saw a health center rehabilitated by @WHOSyria that serves thousands in the surrounding area. Health is a basic right & more support is urgently needed. More in 🎥

Today is #WorldRefugeeDay. I am spending it in Syria with some of the 600,000 people who have returned from neighbouring countries after 14 years of conflict. Syria today is where returning Syrians — given security, opportunities and support — can finally stop being refugees.
This year, #WorldRefugeeDay comes with hope for millions of Syrians who can dream of going back home and rebuilding their lives. However, sustainable returns require livelihoods, infrastructure & services. The @UN reiterates its commitment to help #Syria & its people recover.
Our Humanitarian Coordinators are an extraordinary group of talented, brave, dedicated people. Excellent to spend time with them in Istanbul on how they are at the heart of humanitarian reset.
