I am a human being way before I am anything else
The vast majority of the left are socially liberal and anti auth The vast majority of libs accept the need for govt intervention to address systemic problems like poverty and pollution We're natural allies people Don't let a vocal minority of clowns on here make you doubt it
There are too many dogs in American cities. Not just in parks, but in grocery stores, restaurants, and strollers. The urban dog has gone from companion to cultural force—and it’s reshaping how cities work. 🧵
the like core lesson of the trump era is that appeasement doesn’t work!
Harvard told Trump to get fucked and the administration seems to be trying to figure out how to extricate themselves from the Harvard situation. But Columbia buckled and the terms will just get worse and worse.
American Hasbara to Right-wing Israelis: Please be normal Right-wing Israelis: No
Incredible
A Trader Joe’s employee once told me they can’t really do anything but whenever one of those dogs barks she liked to rush over and asks if they need her to call 911 because their service dog is alerting, and I think that’s a very funny way to make these people feel bad.
what really grinds my gears are dogs in grocery stores, restaurants, and coffee shops. it's disgusting. everyone knows it's not allowed, but there's complete impunity, with staff either not wanting the hassle of enforcing the posted rules or even giving the dogs treats
And, I was only 17 at the time, but I never forgave him for saying Obama’s 2008 primary campaign was “the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen” and basically dismissing his huge win in the SC primary as a purely racial thing (comparing his win to Jesse Jackson’s 1984 & 1988 wins).
There is simply no excuse for any Democrat, or really any decent human being, to be giving support to a government with leadership like this
If you don't want the world to believe that you're committing genocide in Gaza, then why are Israeli government ministers bragging about the catastrophic starvation, death & destruction? “We don’t have to be concerned about hunger in the Strip?” "Rushing to wipe out Gaza"?!
Really hate that the last two big developments in comedy were * The 2016-22 era "stand up comedy is when you lecture people about woke politics without telling jokes", and * The current trend of "comedy is when you host a podcast that's 10% bro jokes and 90% alt-right politics"
I am sickened by what we’re seeing in Gaza right now. The IDF has blocked aid while shooting people waiting in food lines for what little aid is actually coming from the sham Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Israel needs to lift its blockade and the U.S. needs to stop sending bombs.
Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children and Oxfam International were among the 115 international aid groups that signed a statement describing food shortages in Gaza as "mass starvation," as the "Israeli government’s siege starves the people of Gaza." abcnews.link/IjBCpVy
The last of the nations to hold off on recognizing Palestine are starting to fold We will soon be isolated on this and demonstrably insincere in what’s left of our nominal commitment to the two state solution if we do not follow
Consistent with its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine. I will make this solemn announcement before the United Nations General Assembly this coming September.…
This right here is why the CA GOP will never get anywhere They support maintaining big govt over regulation of land use even when it comes to simply legalizing apartment construction within walking distance of transit Bad as the CA Dems are on housing, these guys are even worse
Under Senate Bill 79, any single-family home within half a mile of transit could be bulldozed for apartments. @Susan_Shelley explains what this means for our neighborhoods:

Zohran Mamdani won Dan Goldman's Congressional District (NY10) by thirty-seven percent (68.2% to 31.8%). Goldman won a split primary in 2022, earning only 18.5K votes (26%); whereas Mamdani won 95K votes in NY10. Notably, Goldman has not endorsed Mamdani.
Probably because irresponsible people keep describing good and popular things like government services and taxing rich people as “communism”
Survey data showing a surge in popularity for communism among young people. Note that this is not the usual euphemism of "democratic socialism." It is just plain communism, of the Soviet variety.
Has anyone asked this poor girl how she feels about becoming a nazi meme? They post this exact same thing with the exact same clip all the time and it is weird weird weird
A magnificent example of the European culture we’re told doesn’t exist. Touches my heart every single time.
I'm just pleased as punch the Mayor rides the bus and will repeat my iron law of urban politics: Not every elected city official who rides transit will be a good elected official. But every good elected city official will ride transit. Only vote for transit riders.

Incredible. Federal prosecutors are seeing many cases of people accused of assaulting Border Patrol agents being turned down by grand juries! Los Angeles federal prosecutors are privately saying it’s because CBP agents are just “arresting first and asking questions later.”

"Moderation" is tricky. For example, not all revenue sources hurt competitiveness 🟢Land taxes 🟢Pigou/Vickrey taxes 🟢Shoup street parking reform (>$3B/yr for childcare) It's possible to be both responsible & revolutionary. "Moderate" is an imperfect, incomplete word for this
.@SadiqKhan has been informally advising @ZohranKMamdani on how to win his election, per @thetimes in the UK. Khan sources tell the outlet Mamdani needs to moderate thetimes.com/uk/london/arti…
Don’t think I’ll be considering a vote for this guy in the primary
"He seemed to run a campaign that excited New Yorkers. He also seemed to run a campaign where he left open far too much space for extremists to either use his words or for him to not condemn the words of extremists that said some blatantly antisemitic things," Josh Shapiro told…
This is what’s so insane to me about this iteration of the Trump admin: they only hired like one guy who is actually aware that Trump is a bad person and it’s dumbass JD! You need a bunch of Bill Barrs if you’re going to do this, not idiots like Kash and Dan who BELIEVED TRUMP!
