The Charter Commission’s Final Report significantly weakens the City Council’s role in land use decisions. This shift toward executive control undermines democratic oversight and meaningful public engagement. I stand with my colleagues who are fighting back. Our statement below:
Rent-stabilized tenants in New York used to be able to band together and buy their building from their landlord as a co-op But homeownership makes people less likely to toe the line and vote for the same old policies So in 2019 the powers in Albany made that illegal
We should let renters buy their apartments.
