Good morning I have some personal news: I am moving back to upstate New York. The main reason is to be closer to family, and my wife and I both terribly miss the region we grew up in. There's also a bit more for our kids there, which has become apparent as they've grown up.
Deep below the ocean surface, massive unseen waves roil and churn the water. These internal waves are a major driver of oceanic circulation, and understanding their behavior is critical for modeling an increasingly unstable climate. news.rpi.edu/2025/07/24/rpi…

This thing where an 88-year-old sitting member of Congress keeps telling reporters that she’s running for re-election only for her staff to walk it back later that day seems bad. axios.com/2025/06/25/nor…
For context about this tweet: Steven Rosenberg is a pioneer in cancer immunotherapy whose work has led to multiple new therapies. The cancer patients in his trials have run out of options and have little time — and policies at NIH are slowing the science.
I find it deeply disappointing of Dr. Rosenberg to claim staffing issues are delaying his research, especially in light of the funding alternatives that were presented to him, which he has been slow in pursuing. 🧵 2/3
We must remind our representatives that federal research funding isn’t just a line item — it’s a lifeline. Right now, key congressional committees are drafting spending bills that will determine how much funding agencies like the NIH and NCI will receive. Proposed cuts would…
