It’s denial. Starmer is in a state of denial. His ‘Smash the gangs’ slogan was just a slogan. It was not a solution and the consequences are - after Labour reduces the backlog by granting asylum to tens of thousands - is a large-scale roll out into scarce housing accommodation.

Where ‘open borders’ policy collides with consequences. Relocating illegal migrants from hotels into houses within neighbourhoods disprivileges British citizens on housing waiting lists. It has to - Starmer can not deny it.

It’s reasonable to suggest Keir Starmer is either the most badly briefed Prime Minister in history or that he is living in some sort of fantasy world.

A serious government plans ahead. With over a million people on social housing lists the Prime Minister’s talk of “spare accommodation” is not just tone-deaf, it reflects the lack of a coherent strategy. Britain needs leadership grounded in reality, not wishful thinking.
