Chai-2 is now up on BioRxiv: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Zero-shot antibody design in a 24-well plate @chaidiscovery 1. Researchers have introduced Chai-2, a multimodal generative model that marks a significant leap in de novo antibody and miniprotein design. This platform achieves an impressive 16% hit rate in de novo antibody…
Listen to today's @NoPriorsPod to hear why the @chaidiscovery team is bullish on biotech. Thank you to @saranormous for hosting @_jackdent and @joshim5.
🆕!! AI and atomic-level structure prediction are accelerating drug discovery — turning a slow, empirical search process into something closer to molecular engineering. @joshim5 @_jackdent co-founders @chaidiscovery chat their new bio foundation model, Chai-2. It enables…
Some scientists see the increasingly impressive results from protein binding models and argue "solving" this problem actually has marginal return on an end-to-end drug campaign in practice. Generally, they claim (1) traditional immunization / hybridoma assays are already quite…
THIS is what gets me excited about AI! Using generative techniques to solves previously computationally intractable problems is the real superintelligence. When this is more mature it'll give us unprecedented control over our biology. So cool.
We’re excited to introduce Chai-2, a major breakthrough in molecular design. Chai-2 enables zero-shot antibody discovery in a 24-well plate, exceeding previous SOTA by >100x. Thread👇
Some use cases are cooler than others, and it's safe to say zero-shot antibody design is one of them. Congrats on launching Chai-2!🧬
Big thank you to stellar engineering team at @modal_labs, who provided some critical infrastructure for this effort. They are a joy to work with.
This startup just dropped an AI model that will save many many lives. Chai-2 takes stubborn proteins and gives you a verified binder in 2wks, instead of 6-18mos. Its 16% hit rate is 100x better than previous methods! Medicine development is about to get way cheaper and faster.
It takes true inventiveness to break ground. This is pioneering work! And it makes me so happy to see Josh’s life’s work coming to life. Congratulations @joshim5, @_jackdent, @Mattmcpartlon1, @Kevin_E_Wu, @_nathanrollins, @j_boitreaud, @danny_nkjg, @ZhuoranQ, @pwolle_ & Alex!
I've been working on variants of this problem for my entire career, and have only dreamed of designing molecules on the computer with success rates this high. Proud of @chaidiscovery for pulling this off, and doing it with the speed, rigor and grace that was only imaginable ✨
this is so good it's a bit hard to believe.

Chai Discovery (@joshim5 @chaidiscovery) just released Chai-2, a model for "zero-shot antibody design in a 24-well plate." The most existing result? Chai-2 successfully generated binders for 50% of the 52 targets they assayed (100x better than SOTA)! Some thoughts below:
