#OnThisDay 1942 B-24 liberators of 120 Squadron arrived at RAF Ballykelly. The long-range aircraft helped close the air gap over the Atlantic convoys, but the aircraft needed a longer runway. Ballykelly’s main runway was extended to over 2,200m, crossing the busy railway line.
