Glad to present our #CryoEM visualization of the NHEJ machinery in double-strand break #DNArepair led by @SiyuChen91. Long-range to Short-range synaptic transition highlights the critical role played by DNA-PKcs in trans autophosphorylation. Free download: rdcu.be/ciGLO
Excited to share our new paper on Nature - how Ku accommodates Alu expansion in primates by binding to dsRNA, providing a clue for both the high levels of Ku and its essentiality in human cells. Thank @chaolinzhang @hchung03 @LenaSteckelberg More to come nature.com/articles/s4158…
Check out this tour de force study by Sangwoo Park and his incredible team of collaborators. Biophysical properties of single nucleosomes are responsible for A and B compartments in cell nucleus.
"Native nucleosomes know where to go!” Our Condense-seq paper is now published in Nature! 📄 nature.com/articles/s4158… I’m deeply grateful to my PhD advisor @taekjip and our incredible collaborators @MuirLab , @binzmit , Erika Pearce, and Ben Garcia lab!!
Another wonderful collaboration with @alanbrownhms lab. The Zhang lab together with @PolinaLishko lab (co-first author @QingweiN) contribute the doublet microtubule structure from Crithidia fasciculata, a model organism that infects mosquitoes. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Learn how homology search might work in 3D genome! We combine very fast CRISPR and Hi C to look at 3D genome changes during DNA repair and found that break anchored DNA extrusion by cohesin can help search for homologous sequences.
1/n Really excited to share our latest pre-print on the role of cohesin in homology search, now available on bioRxiv! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Exciting results! Using AID-Degron system, Dr. Yimeng Zhu found that Ku suppresses RNA-mediated innate immunity to accommodate Alu-expansion in primates - solving the misery of Ku essentiality in human cells! Thank@chaolinzhang biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
