Our study on how mitochondrial methylation shapes gene expression is now out. Using long-read RNAseq and cryo-EM, we uncover two methylation-dependent checkpoints in ribosome biogenesis. Read all about it at: rdcu.be/etk12
Our study on methylation during mitochondrial gene expression is now online. Great effort by @ruth_icg, Vivek Singh, @A_Amunts, and @MolMet_KI. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Our newest paper on mitochondrial Topoisomerase 1 shows that Top1mt has only weak endoribonuclease activity and it therefore does not often generate deletions at incorporated ribonucleotides. This helps explain why ribonucleotides are tolerated in mtDNA. academic.oup.com/nar/article-ab…
New paper out from the Falkenberg and Gustafsson labs. Thanks to Pretzel for a successful collaboration. nature.com/articles/s4158…
Interested in mitochondrial biology? We are looking for an enthusiastic PostDoctoral fellow and PhD student to join our group in Stockholm. @mitojobs @MolMet_KI For the PhD position: kidoktorand.varbi.com/what:job/jobID… For the PostDoc position: ki.varbi.com/what:job/jobID…
Check out our recent paper showing how maternal inheritance of mtDNA is guaranteed in D. melanogaster.
Hansong Ma and coworkers identify POLDIP2 as a novel mitochondrial exonuclease interacting with CLPX protease and promoting elimination of paternal mtDNA during Drosophila spermatogenesis embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…
I'm excited to share our latest work linking TAG mobilization to mitochondrial stress recovery. A monumental effort by @Zak_Bakes (on the faculty job market soon!). Great collaboration with the @Coon_Labs and others. rdcu.be/d5ACF #mitochondria #HHMINews
The peer-reviewed version of our paper on human tRNA 3' processing is now published in @NatureSMB. Many thanks to the reviewers for their constructive comments! nature.com/articles/s4159… See also the very nice related work by @BMartinHallberg @no1gv: embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…
Happy to share a new preprint, in which we describe the mechanism of human tRNA 3' processing. We show why the RNase Z ELAC2 acts as a monomer in the nucleus, but forms a multi-subunit complex in mitochondria. Plase see 🧵 by @BhattaArjun2p for details! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
New structural and functional analyses show that FASTKD4 supports non-canonical RNA processing and MT-ND3 mRNA stability. Thanks to all authors for their contributions and the reviewers for their kind advice! academic.oup.com/nar/article/do… #RNA #mitochondria #mtDNA
Just over a week left to apply for a PostDoc position in mitochondrial biology with us. #mitochondria @mitojobs ki.varbi.com/ny/what:job/jo…
We have 1-2 PostDoc positions for enthusiastic researchers interested in mitochondrial biology. Apply here. #mitochondria #mitojobs ki.varbi.com/ny/what:job/jo…
Extremely proud to share our integrative work on how 'Dissected antiporter modules establish the minimal proton-conducting elements in Complex I' – now out in Nature Comms! Many thanks to @KAWstiftelsen & @Vetenskapsradetfor funding. nature.com/articles/s4146…
🚨Mitochondrial research out🚨 Our latest work on the synergy between LRPPRC and SLIRP for maintaining mtDNA gene expression in vivo is now published! 🧬 Free-access link to the article: academic.oup.com/nar/article/52…
Happy to share our latest manuscript on using quantitative proteomics to diagnose patients with mitochondrial disease. Great collaboration with @taylorlabncl and @lukas_k insight.jci.org/articles/view/…
We are excited to share our lab's first preprint, highlighting the role of the CHCHD2-CHCHD10 complex in preserving tissue homeostasis. A huge thank you to all our collaborators! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
