New paper from us on the in vivo role of the LRPPRC/SLIRP protein complex and its crucial role in mammalian mtDNA gene expression: academic.oup.com/nar/advance-ar… Congratulations @RubalDiana for great work! Thank you to all coauthors for a very nice collaboration.
Our story about FASTKD5 is now published at @NAR_Open. It was an amazing collaboration with @hauke_hillen and @Antonio41949078 labs. doi.org/10.1093/nar/gk… FASTKD5 processes mitochondrial pre-mRNAs at non-canonical cleavage sites
This poster is a must have for labs working on #MCS! A guide through the work of so many outstanding labs (apologies if we did not cite your work). Hang it in your office or lab, it will please your eyes and inspire your mind! Kudos to the driving force Antigoni Diokmetzidou! -LS
In their Cell Science at a Glance article, Antigoni Diokmetzidou & Luca Scorrano @LabScorrano summarise the mitochondrial contacts characterised in mammals, the mechanisms underlying their formation, and their principal functions. journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/13… #JCSMitoSI #OpenAccess

The peer-reviewed version of our paper on human tRNA 3' processing is now published in @NatureSMB. Many thanks to the reviewers for their constructive comments! nature.com/articles/s4159… See also the very nice related work by @BMartinHallberg @no1gv: embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…
Happy to share a new preprint, in which we describe the mechanism of human tRNA 3' processing. We show why the RNase Z ELAC2 acts as a monomer in the nucleus, but forms a multi-subunit complex in mitochondria. Plase see 🧵 by @BhattaArjun2p for details! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
New structural and functional analyses show that FASTKD4 supports non-canonical RNA processing and MT-ND3 mRNA stability. Thanks to all authors for their contributions and the reviewers for their kind advice! academic.oup.com/nar/article/do… #RNA #mitochondria #mtDNA

Update! We outline AIVE, an AI method for volume EM data. We show the benefits of AIVE for reconstructing your FIB-SEM data, reveal some fascinating cell biology, and define intrusions as a new form of mitochondrial contact. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Muscle mito nanotunnels 1/3🧵

Our latest preprint! Some beautiful cell biology in this one. "Presynapses are mitophagy pit stops that prevent axon degeneration" biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… Discoveries into the cell biology of of mitophagy in axons, a disease mechanism, and a potential therapeutic avenue. 1/2
Out today! We find that an epigenetic modification (6mA) to the mitochondrial genome (mtDNA) influences lifespan and the heritability of mtDNA mutations to the next generation. It implies that epigenetics determines genetic composition in future offspring. cell.com/cell-metabolis…
