Asylum seekers using benefits to gamble - I'm surprised the gambling industry hasn't put adverts up on the white cliffs. Seriously - if you enter a country where gambling is normalised and is pitched as a way out of poverty, is this a surprise? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Gambling harm is a serious public health issue and should be addressed in the same way as other addictive products I asked the Secretary of State if he agreed that addressing gambling addiction should be led by the Dept of Health rather than the Dept for Culture, Media & Sport
Gambling harm ruins lives – and the current system isn’t doing enough to stop it. I spoke to @politicshome about why we need urgent action and tougher rules on online gambling. Read the full piece here 👉 politicshome.com/news/article/l…

Gambling harm is a public health issue, with dangerous addictive products damaging far too many individuals, families and communities. In my recent Fabian Ideas paper, I call for urgent reform of gambling oversight: fabians.org.uk/publication/wh…
Spoke in two separate talks this morning at a conference in Nantes about my lived experience role in a gambling related suicide project as well as my PhD research into coroners and GRS suicide death investigations. First time presenting my work in this way but managed it!
Thank you to @BeccyCooper4Lab, Officer of the Gambling Reform APPG, for continuing to raise awareness of the need to treat gambling as a public health issue in the @thefabians latest pamphlet.
In a new pamphlet 'Where's the Harm?', @BeccyCooper4Lab calls on the government to approach gambling harms as a public health issue 🧵

I'm calling for a parliamentary debate on the “aim to permit” rule that forces councils to approve new gambling shops, even when high streets are already overrun and communities object. Local voices should matter. Community cohesion should matter. Let's put people before profit.
👏Huge congratulations to Haringey Council for being recognised at the MJ awards - not least for their pioneering decision to be the first Council to join the Coalition to End Gambling Ads!
Very proud to secure two wins at the prestigious MJ Awards 🏆 Great to be recognised for our pioneering approach to delivering services. Congratulations to our Children's Services and Public Health teams👏 Well done to everyone involved. 👉 bit.ly/3T4cTtS
I reacted to @BBCfileon4's investigation into the failure of gambling venues to protect customers - which won't be a surprise to anyone except apparently the Government (@DCMS) and the Regulator (@GamRegGB).
🎰 Gambling reform is needed – today's BBC investigation into Adult Gaming Centres shows why. Now, we’re teaming up with @SMFthinktank to explore how local authorities can be better empowered to tackle gambling-related harm on Britain’s high streets 👇 brent.gov.uk/news-in-brent/…
Government policy is to grow the gambling industry. That means more addiction and more suicide. Time for a rethink. - @cleanupgambling.
'It’s a sorry indictment of football authorities that players like Paqueta get read the riot act for gambling offences whilst his club is enabled to promote dangerous gambling products to fans.' @willprochaska on West Ham's new sponsorship deal. dailymail.co.uk/sport/football…
