🚨 BREAKING: @BhamCityCouncil threatens to fire their workforce! First they take thousands of pounds a year from their bin workers, pushing families into poverty & homelessness. Now 'missing-in-action' @CllrJohnCotton threatens them with the sack! Is this really how @UKLabour…

We are saddened to hear today of the passing of John Gillespie, @UniteScotland Chair, a great friend and supporter of Keep Grangemouth Working. RIP comrade ❤️
This afternoon we noticed some unusual e-mail activity on our schools and early years IT network. As a precautionary measure we have reset passwords across our schools and early years network - including those of our learners and students: edinburgh.gov.uk/news/article/1…
When peak rates returned, we criticised @scotgov for their short-sightedness & for punishing working people by aggravating the cost-of-living crisis. 🚝 This is a welcome development which will bring financial relief to commuters and an incentive to travel sustainably 🌳
🚝 The return of peak fares is a tax on working people. Those who have been pushed out of the city due to the huge increase of the cost of living and rely on the railway to get to work are going to be punished once more. Shortsighted and unfair.
Great turnout at Edinburgh May Day today ✊ We marched down to the Pleasance with comrades from all over Edinburgh, and borrowed the Not for Profit branch's banner for a bit 🇵🇸 #MayDay2025

Today is International Workers' Memorial Day and at STUC Congress trade unionists came together to remember all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice simply doing their job. #iwmd25 #stuc25
We were present at the International Worker's Memorial Day yesterday, remembering those who were injured/lost their lives at or from work ✊ Emotional speeches from all present - one quote stood out: No one should go to work, and not come back home.

Everyone at the Unite City of Edinburgh Council branch is saddened to hear that Councillor Val Walker has passed away. We know her as a solid supporter of worker's rights. She will be dearly missed.
Terribly sad news today - the council will fly flags at half-mast for Cllr Val Walker 1949 – 2025 theedinburghreporter.co.uk/2025/04/cllr-v…
🙏Thanks to the thousands of locals who signed our petition supporting @BhamCityCouncil bin workers facing massive pay cuts Unbelievably the council barred the doors on union reps trying to deliver the petition today 😱 But don’t worry. We emailed it to the leader & commissioners
Great discussion about the issues workers are facing in Edinburgh at the branch's AGM, on the 21st March. A big thank you to Cllr Jane Meagher, Cllr Ross McKenzie , Sinéad McNulty (Living Rent), and Stand Down Officer Graeme Smith for taking part! ✊ 32 reps elected 💪
