.@UCSF BCHSI's founding director @atulbutte inducted into the @americanacad! @UofCAHealth @UofCalifornia Well-deserved honor to all inductees!
Congratulations to UCSF's Dr. @AtulButte on his induction into @americanacad — one of the country's oldest & most prestigious honor societies! Dr. Butte shares the honor with new inductees, including @mrdannyglover, Gloria Steinem & @andersoncooper. ucsfh.org/4lTnGnI
CPH's @Idasim delivering keynote at @Chilconference, urging computational experts to look beyond EHR to multiple sources of data reflecting how people manage chronic conditions (and developing a new platform, JupyterHealth, to get us there). @ahli_cc @UCSFDGIM @MaryamVareth
Congrats to @julian_hong & team for Project IMPACT - one of the first UCSF projects to be awarded by Weill Cancer Hub West! "to build artificial intelligence systems that integrate clinical and biological data for precise, personalized cancer treatments"
Backed by a $100M gift from Joan and Sandy Weill, UCSF and @StanfordMed @StanfordCancer are launching Weill Cancer Hub West, a $200M initiative in team science to accelerate cancer research and improve care over the next decade. tiny.ucsf.edu/ppVRqt

MIT @techreview on important--and concerning--new finding that medical disclaimers are less common than they used to be in AI outputs. @_ahmedmalaa joins @Roxanadaneshjou Sonali Sharma and co in analyzing the trends. @BerkeleyCDSS @UCSF_BCHSI @UCSF_DOCIT
Medical disclaimers in AI outputs are quietly fading, but they matter for safety and trust! Our recent study on this topic is featured in a new MIT @techreview piece.
A surprising duo: Two FDA-approved cancer drugs—letrozole and irinotecan—show promise in reversing Alzheimer’s symptoms in mice - our study published today in Cell led by Yaqiao Li in collaboration with Yadong Huang @SirotaLab @UCSF_BCHSI @GladstoneInst: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
FDA-approved cancer drugs reversed brain changes tied to Alzheimer’s and brought back memory. UCSF and @GladstoneInst researchers combined patient data with genetic analysis to fast-track a potential new treatment. tiny.ucsf.edu/579NOK

It is easier and flashier to evaluate LLMs on clean data like NEJM cases, but we can't start talking about "medical superintelligence" until we engage with the messy reality of actual real-world clinical data
Wow. Bullish on AI for clinical reasoning but nejm cases are not real world :) furthest thing from it highly curated, highly packaged none of my patients come with pithy blurbs distilling hours of conversations & chart reviews into pertinent positives and negatives
I'm hiring! Looking for a motivated postdoc to work at the intersection of multimodal foundation models and medicine! If you are excited about exploring real-world data and transforming clinical workflows, please apply! @UCSF_DOCIT @UCSF_BCHSI @NeurosurgUCSF @UCSFCancer
📢 UCSF’s M2AI Lab is hiring a Postdoc in Multimodal Medical AI! Lead research on multimodal foundation models for medicine to improve diagnosis & treatment decisions—working across AI, clinical data & real-world care. 🔗 Apply now: docit.ucsf.edu/news/were-hiri… @madhumitasushil
