Myroslav Laiuk’s BAKHMUT is one of the most important reportages written since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. You can now preorder the English translation, which I’m honored to have taken part in. store.ukrainer.net/en/product/enb…
My parents were murdered on October 7th, and if anyone is slapping us in the face, it's people like you, who for the past 20 years have failed to prevent violence and bloodshed in Israel-Palestine, whilst making inflammatory remarks. Your administration could stop the war…
The United States strongly rejects @EmmanuelMacron’s plan to recognize a Palestinian state at the @UN general assembly. This reckless decision only serves Hamas propaganda and sets back peace. It is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7th.
I will say this once again: if someone’s “safety” or “security” requires the mass extermination of a people, then their safety is a genocidal ideology rooted in exceptionalism. It is incompatible with a shared future for humanity.
If you’re in a normal, healthy relationship — you’re not going to say stupid shit like this

I think a lot of westerners are about to find out that Ukrainians don’t hold Zelensky as precious and untouchable as they think they did do. In either a positive or negative way. He is fallible. There is no personality cult.
If Zelensky signs this bill, he will feel the wrath of those exact stubborn, freedom-loving Ukrainians he has been an international symbol for.
Last week, we ran an editorial warning of an anti-democratic backslide in Ukraine. Today, it’s happening in plain sight. This isn’t what our people have been fighting and dying for, and it’s devastatingly unfair to them.
My poetry aspires to be louder than the sympathies of the safe world louder than the silences of citizens in the peaceful continents where there have been no war for centuries Two wartime poems by Ukrainian author Olena Herasymiuk apofenie.com/the-latest-con…
I am beyond grateful to have my second piece, an excerpt by Miklós Vámos in my translation, in @apofenie 🩶 thanks to @TsurkanKate who published my first ever translation in her beautiful literary magazine a few years ago. apofenie.com/the-latest-con…
When I wrote in my op-Ed (!) for The New Yorker that I jokingly call my Chernivtsi husband who has not only Ukrainian but Romanian, Hungarian roots the “true son of Franz Joseph,” their fact checker phoned him to confirm that I do in fact make such nerdy jokes
The amount of people who think publications the scope of the Wall Street Journal just put explosive stuff out about a public figure without well established authentication procedures and running it through a team of lawyers knows literally nothing about journalism.

Ice cold queen, God bless her
Donald Trump: I speak to Putin a lot about getting this done, and I always hang up and say, "That was a nice phone call." I go home and tell the First Lady, "I spoke with Vladimir today. We had a wonderful conversation." She says, "Oh, really? Another city was just bombed."
Also, every time some weird conservative dude tries to make this point about Ukraine, the obvious subtext is celebrating a perceived lack of immigrants
“I can walk around by myself safely” is a ubiquitous part of Russian propaganda…but I just don’t get it? I am a larger white male so my positionally on that is a certain way…but that is normal? Where is everyone that they are getting shanked every time they run to the shop?
