“If you are a Christian, no earthly city is yours. Even if we control the world, we are still immigrants and foreigners because our citizenship is in heaven.” -St John Chrysostom

The future of the Church is, as Andrew Wilson has said, "eucharismatic".... Spirit-filled and rooted in the liturgy of the ancient Church. The way to be relevant is now in recovering the ancient paths while walking in the power of the Spirit.

"A theology that ends in lovelessness cannot be Christian." -Thomas Merton

I really enjoyed talking to @georgepwood on @TheInfluenceMag podcast about some of the topics in my upcoming book AI Goes to Church. Take a listen!
In Episode 391 of the Influence Podcast, @GeorgePWood talks to @ToddKorpi about how to evaluate AI theologically and ethically. Korpi is author of 'When AI Goes To Church', coming out in September from @IVPress. influencemagazine.com/en/podcast/thi…
Not only is empathy not sinful, it is so fundamental to Christian faith that the rejection of empathy is a sure fire path toward rejecting the voice of the Holy Spirit.
The change in dynamic here is diversity of thought. That's actually a good thing for Christian theology, for which Galatians 3:28 and Revelation 7:9-10 are guiding principles. Homogeneity is a sure fire way to get theology wrong.
When I was in seminary, the dynamic noticeably changed when a woman was in the class. I have no issue with women being theologically competent, but I don't think seminary is the route for this. Seminary should be for men preparing to preach the Word. Period.
“Revivals are hindered when ministers and churches take wrong ground in regard to any question involving human rights.” -Charles Finney

Years ago I remember @BethMooreLPM saying that it was going to become increasingly important for American Christians to be able to tell the difference between what is "Christian" and what is Christ like. If ever there was a prophetic word, it was that.
When the church stops talking about Jesus, it has nothing to say. -@alanhirsch
Nobody gets to heaven without a letter of reference from the poor. - James Forbes (Matthew 25)

"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." -Brennan Manning
"Preaching is not the performance of an hour. It is the outflow of a life." -E.M. Bounds
Sometimes someone friends me on Facebook and my internal response is, "well, alright, I'll accept. But I don't think you're going to enjoy this as much as you think you will."
“The American self characteristically chooses advertisers instead of apostles as guides.” -Eugene Peterson
Headed back to Chicago today to see my oldest daughter graduate junior high tomorrow and reflecting on what a great time it has been here at Oxford. Grateful to @edstetzer for the opportunity and for his heart to train up leaders in mission.
