After making private confession, a Lutheran in Saxony during the age of Orthodoxy got to hear his priest speak these words to him. No wonder in Bach’s Leipzig they had to call more men just to hear confessions and speak the absolution!

I have literally never heard of an LCMS church having a regular visitation roll beyond shut-ins and the elderly, and I simply do not believe you that this is normal. Across about 50 churches I've visited on various occasions, I have seen registration for such a visitation program…
