I read this brilliant report from @emilykenway in draft. Thanks to @guardian for covering it. See jrf.org.uk/care/moving-in… for the full report.

Here's a related comment piece from @crspMatt given his insights on pension reform: lboro.ac.uk/media-centre/p…
I was delighted to give evidence to this enquiry. As the video says "retirement should be dignified and not a struggle at the poverty line." @jrf_uk and @CRSP_LboroUni's Minimum Income Standard measures this. But what do the stats show? TL:DR it's not good news (1/4).

What are the questions MPs and members of the House of Lords should be asking about the Universal Credit Bill (which still increases poverty) and what can be done? See this briefing which @jrf_uk is part of.
The House of Lords will debate the Universal Credit Bill later this afternoon. Serious questions remain unanswered. We’ve joined 12 other leading anti-poverty and disability charities to set out our remaining concerns about the bill. ucpipbill.co.uk
There are now twice as many children living in temporary accommodation as when Labour were last in Government. Arresting this escalating crisis needs to be a key priority for Government.
📊Today we published the latest version of our Cost of Living tracker. The survey gathered data from 4,000 families in the bottom 40% of incomes in the six months to May 2025. Hear some of the key findings from JRF Economist Maudie Johnson-Hunter 🔽
That's more than 1 in 9 of all children whose lives are being affected by this policy!
Over 1.6m children are now impacted by the Two-Child Limit - 11.6% of all children This is a cruel policy that unnecessarily drags children into hardship It needs to go, and the longer it is kept, the greater the scarring effects on children's health and education will be
Vote against the cuts today!
Actually around 50,000 people will be pulled into poverty by remaining cuts in Bill – this now our best estimate based on Govt’s impact assessments. @jrf_uk previously showed how DWP sleight of hand underplayed true poverty impact – same applies to this latest publication. 🧵1/3

Welfare bill u-turn in face of mounting Labour rebellion over disability benefits cuts means that 50,000 people will now be lifted out of poverty, updated impact assessment finds. Initial version of bill would have pushed additional 250,000 into poverty. Full story 👇🏼…
Today MPs will vote on the amended welfare bill. MPs who choose to walk through the lobby and support this bill are paving the way for at least 150,000 people to be pulled into poverty. Here are just 3 reasons why they should oppose this bill from @KatieSchmuecker 🔽
Proud @jrf_uk is one of the signatories to this. Vote against the cuts!
NEW: Last night 86 charities came together to stand with disabled people and their organisations in calling for MPs to vote against the UC & PIP Bill proceeding 👇
This is terrible news and an awful decision. I have been so impressed by @finan_fairness and everyone working there, with some really brilliant work produced. And beyond this, the way this seems to have been handled is just plain wrong.
Really shocking behaviour. Summarily dismissing board of trustees and chief executive. The Trust has been one of the very few funders of quality, impartial, policy focused social science research. thetimes.com/article/7d695e…
What's playing out in the Commons is utter madness. We don't even know what the new scoring criteria will be when the new scoring system comes in. There's not a single MP, including the secretary of state, including the prime minister, who knows what they're actually voting on
Crucial point⤵️the real poverty impact of the disability cuts post concessions is more like 250,000 additional people in 2029/30 And remember, this is just the people that fall ill or become disabled between 2026 and the end of the parliament - it will keep rising over time.
The updated poverty impact assessment for the disability benefits cuts once again offsets the impact of not proceeding with the previous government's proposed plans The impact of actual changes happening in the real world is likely to be closer to 250k people pushed into poverty
‼️Extra cost of being disabled in UK to rise by almost 12% in five years ‼️ The new @scope Disability Price Tag published today Cuts to PIP will leave disabled people with no financial support to live independently theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
