@SaveRIPTA
A community Coalition working to increase RIPTA's budget to: 🚌 Close the fiscal cliff 🚌 Raise driver wages 🚌 Expand bus service For people and the planet!
Hi @RIPTA_RI! It looks like the proposed route segment elimination for Route 14 (between Route 1A & Route 138 in North Kingstown and Salt Pond Plaza in Narragansett) isn’t listed on the public hearings page. Just wanted to flag in case it was missed.
Next year there will be no beach bus service because you have so utterly failed @RIPTA_RI, bus riders, and workers. Under your "leadership," RIPTA will have to slash the largest amount of transit service IN ITS HISTORY. You are stranding tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders.
'Tis the season for #GovBayDay—Sunday, July 27! 🅿️Free parking at all State beaches 🎣Free saltwater fishing (no license needed) 🚌Free @RIPTA_RI beach bus service
Seriously, what are we doing here
RIPTA just proposed service cuts to nearly every bus line in Rhode Island, eliminating 9 routes entirely. “We haven’t seen cuts this large in our history, from what we understand,” CEO Chris Durand said after today’s board meeting.
This didn't have to happen. 70% of Rhode Islanders supported a bill to #TaxTheRich according to a poll by Salve Regina's Pell Center, yet the bill was "held for further study" on Smith Hill. wpri.com/news/elections… #SaveRIPTA
NEW: Facing budget deficit, RIPTA proposes cuts to most bus routes, eliminating 16 routes altogether bostonglobe.com/2025/07/24/met…
Devastating service cuts are here. List is so long I couldn't even put it all in this post. Frequency changes. Routes lose early and/or late service. Some stops are eliminated. Routes lose weekend service. Some routes are cut completely. Blame @DanMcKeeRI ripta.com/publichearings/
These devastating cuts affect almost every single route. If you are a @RIPTA_RI rider, PLEASE make a plan to attend a hearing and speak out.
RIPTA will hold public hearings on proposed service reductions starting July 28 - Aug. 6. The reductions are part of cost controls to manage a $17.6M budget deficit. Riders should attend to learn more and provide public comment. For details, visit: bit.ly/4o6ZOy2
It's wild that the hearing begin on Monday and we just learned of the proposed cuts this afternoon.
Thanks for the reminder, @_KennyUong_ ! I plan to attend the hearing on Monday, the 28th @ CCRI Knights Campus in Warwick @ 12 noon. However, we haven’t yet heard from @RIPTA_RI regarding which routes and/or route segments will be eliminated?? Hopefully, we’ll know before Monday.
BREAKING: Proposed service changes just released. Hearings begin Monday July 28. This is a gutting of service and will be devastating for the future of public transit in Rhode Island. @DanMcKeeRI is throwing riders under the bus. Hearing schedule: pvdstreets.org/save-ripta

Join us tomorrow Monday July 21st at 5:30pm @TrinityBrew and support Save RIPTA!

Next stop: a happy retirement! 🚌 After more than four decades of dedicated service, bus operator Thomas G. Cute Jr. is retiring from RIPTA, closing out an extraordinary 45-year career marked by leadership, advocacy and a deep commitment to public service. Congrats, Tom!
Grateful to @PatrickAnderso_ for asking this question and looking forward to working with the winner of the SD4 race to find more sustainable funding for RIPTA.
Political Scene: There's only one RI General Assembly race this year, the Senate District 4 special election tomorrow. See where the candidates stand on taxes, guns, RIPTA, hospital bailouts and RIPTA. providencejournal.com/story/news/pol…
Governor McKee will do literally anything to avoid caring about the 40,000 Rhode Islanders who rely on public transit every day. Statement:
.@GovDanMcKee’s letter to lawmakers on why he won’t sign budget
To the Rhode Island state legislators who had our backs this legislative session: thank you for standing up for transit. To the @SaveRIPTA Coalition: thank you for your tireless, powerful advocacy. Your work is essential to the fight for better transit! 🙏🏽🚌
It is now a near certainty that service cuts and job losses will happen. Make no mistake, these will be painful and impact everyone. You have every right to be angry, and the blame lies squarely at the doorstep of Governor McKee. Full statement from Save RIPTA ⤵️
