My first TV interview on 15 November on the latest Israel-Palestinian conflict. I thought long and hard about speaking on the record given the work we do. It was time. There is no day after (currently). There are only hours of hell. #IsraelPalestineConflict
What's stunning about this hunger crisis in Gaza is that it is not unfolding in some remote part of the world, allowing leaders to feign ignorance; no, this starvation is in the headlines, on television and much discussed -- yet still the world shrugs and the US is complicit.
As a longtime humanitarian who has battled famines and hunger crises, I fear that starvation in Gaza has now passed the tipping point and we are going to see mass-scale starvation mortality. A thread on famine momentum, famine response, and what it means for Gaza today.
Good to see my MP for Kensington and Bayswater, @josephpowell has signed this letter. I believe it is time for Cabinet members to think with head and heart and join their colleagues in Parliament in calling for the recognition of a Palestinian state.
🚨 UPDATE: 221 MPs from 9 parties have signed the joint letter calling on Keir Starmer to recognise a Palestinian state
Wow - just wow. I look forward to hearing Mr. Rubio’s proposal for peace and coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians.
The United States strongly rejects @EmmanuelMacron’s plan to recognize a Palestinian state at the @UN general assembly. This reckless decision only serves Hamas propaganda and sets back peace. It is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7th.
Time for action not words Prime Minister. Nothing less.
The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible.
Hope - let us find a new way.
Tens of thousands of Israelis participated in a protest in Tel Aviv this evening, demanding an immediate end to the war in Gaza and the immediate return of all remaining hostages, all at once. Over 80% of the Israeli public demands this. footage credit: Amir Goldstein

Friend and former U.K. Minister for the Middle East. I completely agree with @AlistairBurtUK
I would now expect the UK to do the same.

France will recognize a Palestinian state in September, President Emmanuel Macron says cnn.it/3UvELrq
There can be no conceivable reason why PM Starmer and the UK will not do the same at the UN in September. I commend the French President @EmmanuelMacron for leading the people of France and Europe in this historic decision. Now let us work towards a Palestinian State…
Keir Starmer statement on Gaza — says will hold emergency call with Macron and Merz tomorrow — says Israel’s actions ‘indefensible’ — makes clear UK considering recognising Palestinian state “The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible. While…
It was always going to come to this. It is too late for many Gazans and Israeli hostages. Strong, unwavering and purposeful actions - not more words - is the only way stop more human carnage now.

🧵Steve Witkoff in statement says US sending team home from Gaza ceasefire talks: “We have decided to bring our team home from Doha for consultations after the latest response from Hamas, which clearly shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza. While the mediators have…
The Prime Minister must act with immediate airdrops of much-needed aid into Gaza and get other countries to do the same. It is simply inhumane that Gaza faces starvation due to Israel’s aid blockade. Words alone won’t save lives.
That’s why he has been indicted by the ICC for war crimes. Let us not forget that.
Alex de Waal: "this is famine... what is unique about this one is that the intl agencies are standing by with the capacity, the plans.. and they're not being allowed to implement those plans. If Netanyahu wanted every child in Gaza to have breakfast tomorrow, he could do it"
A critical meeting to watch that could forestall another nuclear crisis and another regional war . Very important that the E3 come away with a plan for further diplomatic discussions

Not lifting sanctions on the State of Syria hurts all Syrian people. It’s a terrible way to ensure a more inclusive political transition and civic peace in Syria. No Syrian I know inside the country, whatever their background, would support that.
Rashida Tlaib fiercely defended Syria’s new Islamist regime yesterday—opposing GOP efforts to delay lifting sanctions, even after horrific reports of the Suwayda massacre. Nearly all Republicans voted to keep sanctions until the regime shows a genuine will to protect minorities.
The far right is spreading misinformation about asylum seekers at the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf. Let’s get the facts straight: • The Government made the decision to use this hotel -the Council had no say in this decision by central Government. • The Council is told this…
