(1/x) We are excited to introduce VIPS (Volumetric Imaging of biological specimens via Photochemical Sectioning) in our preprint! VIPS uses a light-based process called “photochemical sectioning” to achieve petabyte-scale high/super-resolution imaging: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
1/ Better late than never, here’s a long thread of threads summarizing our MOSAIC preprint. If you’re curious about the process by which a new microscope is conceived and brought into the world, this is the thread for you. If you’ve come for eye candy, there’s plenty of that too…
Research never looked so good! Each year, the UIC Graduate College and UIC Library present the Image of Research competition, celebrating the beauty of #UIC research. See this year’s winners: today.uic.edu/see-the-2025-i… #UICResearch #ThisIsUIC
Finally here! Our preprint on the MOSAIC, a multimodal adaptive optical microscope enabling non‑invasive in‑vivo imaging from molecules to organisms, is out. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… @Eric_Betzig @legant_lab
From mass spec to spatial NGS, we’re getting insights on the tools of tomorrow here at #GrandRoundsUS25 with experts from @uchicago, @thisisUIC, @astrazeneca,@lumagroup_, and @northwesternu.
🚨 New from UIC Chemistry! Led by the Hemley group, this @ScienceMagazine study reports the first 1-dimensional high-entropy oxide nanoribbons — materials that remain stable under extreme heat (1000°C), pressure (up to 12 GPa), and corrosive environments. tinyurl.com/2djw8phs
We are excited to share our development of a new 10X lens with NA=0.50 over a 7.2 mm FOV and a 35 mm working distance (water), fully corrected from 400-850 nm. This lens will power our upcoming ExA-SPIM "2" and is available for dissemination - please get in touch if interested!
Happy to share our new work in @NatureComms. We report ACT-DC, a nanoparticle-boosted dendritic cell therapy that turns tumor into an effective vaccination site for in situ immunization. nature.com/articles/s4146…
New @J_A_C_S from the Adibekian Lab, marking the 3rd JACS from #UIC Chemistry this week! 🍾🍾🍾 Read it here: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
We are excited to announce our @J_A_C_S paper on frameworks with metalloprotein-like sites! ɑ-helices designed to assemble by metal-coordination and the hydrophobic effect. Point mutations yield unique frameworks with diverse metalloprotein-like sites. tinyurl.com/jk62cb27
Our very own @MaddisonHibbard passed her Preliminary Exam! Congratulations on becoming a PhD Candidate, Maddie! We are proud of you!!
Check out new ACS Nano cover story! My group used scanning tunneling microscopy and tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy to understand the mobility of NHC carbene, which is key to the formation of high quality SAM on surfaces. @ChemistryatUIC @ACSPublications #MyACSCover
🚨 New in @J_A_C_S : The @GlusacGroup at @UIC has developed a new MOF composed of nanographene ligands (hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene), which acts as a photocatalyst for CO2 reduction using water as the terminal electron donor. Read it here! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
The Cho group at #UIC has discovered that colorectal cancers driven by APC loss depend on high membrane cholesterol to activate β-catenin signaling. Blocking cholesterol–Dvl interaction halted tumor growth without harming normal cells. @nchembio tinyurl.com/mc5prces
Congratulations to our grad student @TandukarJamuna for receiving the 3rd Place award in the UIC "The Image of Research" Competition! Jamuna's image, "we're stardust, remember?" shows the similarities between the brain and the universe via fluorescent microscopy. So cool!!
Just published: our latest on enhancing cell membrane labeling for live super-resolution imaging! Congrats to Hirushi and team! @HirushiGunasek2 @ChemistryatUIC @thisisUIC @NatureComms nature.com/articles/s4146…
#hiring! come join @Eric_Betzig and the rest of an amazing team at the Advanced BioImaging Center at UC Berkeley to help us build the #CellObservatory! 1/2 aprecruit.berkeley.edu/JPF04858
We are hiring a postdoc (or similar) with experience in molecular and cellular neurobiology and neurodegenerative disease models (cellular and animal). Appreciation for MS-based proteomics and lipidomics a must. Interested applicants can email CV to Stephanie. No DMs, please RT
