I just submitted my book for peer review. After 15 years of thinking, researching, and writing, and an NEH this year to finish up. I’m furious about the gutting of that institution, which makes so much knowledge possible. I hope this book eventually lives up to that honor.

Extraordinary.

It's your boys @RezekJoe and me in The Boston Globe! In print on Sunday! (We are in a big fight about how to interpret the ending of Poe's novel and the illustration poignantly captures the strain in our friendship.)
As Pym says, “it might be supposed” that “catastrophe” early in life might have “cooled my incipient passion for events at the Harvard Bookstore” yet “I never experienced a more ardent longing” for such events than when “Nate and Joe announced their edition of my narrative!”
Happy pub day to @SandTClassics edition of Poe’s NARRATIVE OF ARTHUR GORDON PYM — featuring an afterword by me & @RezekJoe! And pls join us at Harvard Bookstore on Monday where we will continue the conversation and I will reveal the next iteration of my thematic hairdo.

Love her but I wouldn’t rank all six like this, just five [runs]
Jane Austen died on this day in 1817. In her too short 41 years on this planet, she wrote six of the greatest novels in the English language, laid the groundwork for the modern romance, and gifted us with some of the best quotes ever. Pour one out for Jane today.
I am 54 years old today. I advise sun protection and plenty of Vitamin C.
Oh thank god! I’ve totally forgotten about the Epstein files now!

Before social media what did people do to get attention???
Fuck the nationalist agitprop that is part of the new MAGA art regime. I'm sorry but this is such bullshit. No women wore their hair like that in the covered wagon days. This is just miserable mall art.
