I occasionally do the Texas pride thing, but the truth is that the hugeness and diversity of Texas means my actual sense of regional loyalty belongs to a far smaller section of the state, with a very idiosyncratic history. Story time
Hot take, the proper name of the monster is that of whoever's reading the book (MS was also the original "the girl reading this" poster)
Frankenstein is about why it's a bad idea not to give one of your characters a proper name
This is a great comparison
The older son is the flip side of Job. Job did everything right and couldn't understand why he suffered, the older brother did everything right and couldn't understand why the younger brother didn't get punished.
I think I've seen that half emphasized more often in my life than the other half. The moral is always "Don't be the older brother." Am I in a bubble? Does no one else hear that a lot?

there's a great story about merlin that a demon conceived him into a virgin girl to become the antichrist. the girl's priest and confessor realized this and dropped him into baptism immediately upon leaving her, at his birth. from his demon father he then retained certain powers
Jackson Crawford reads Odin as a selfish figure gathering warriors to fight on his behalf in a battle he knows he's fated to lose. I read him as Luthen Rael, burning his life for a sunrise he'll never see. He is working to ensure *something* survives Ragnarok.

I was raised on the 1995 VHS. While not identical to the theatrical release ("Star Wars" is still "A New Hope" and "Episode IV"), it predates the special editions. I have them somewhere, but they're basically worthless.
share a piece of star wars lore about yourself

In Tolkien’s Letters to Father Christmas, the people of the North Pole speak Arktik, which is actually Quenya. Also, Father Christmas’s secretary is Ilbereth, which sounds a lot like Elbereth, aka Varda. All signs point to Father Christmas being a great Elf-lord, or perhaps even…
What's a conspiracy theory you believe with your whole heart?
Do remember that this was, in fact, the case. It is also the case that the most provocative voices may not be the most representative.
I'm old enough to remember when evangelicals all had ن in their bios and talked more than basically anybody else about the persecution of Christians in the Middle East
