"Tassel wrap" showing up in WC Indiana (photos taken July 10), joining the party seen across much of the Midwest. Seems linked to hybrid, planting date, and pre-symptom temp swings. Potential pollination issues also observed ~10 days after symptoms. @PurdueAgronomy @PurdueAg

Both southern rust and tar spot corn leaf samples have been confirmed by the Purdue PPDL today. Please continue to keep scouting as both diseases continue to be found. (reminder we need the actual leaf to confirm) @PurdueCorn @PurdueExtension

With diseases starting to pop up, a quick reminder that some of those popular disease prediction apps (Tarspotter and Sporecaster) are no longer active. These models have been move to the Crop Protection Network. cropprotectionnetwork.org/crop-disease-f… @CropNetwork
Just your daily reminder that “corn sweat” or corn transpiration (plant release of water vapor to the atmosphere) in the Midwest is not the sole reason the humidity is high this time of year.

Tar spot samples coming in today, 5 counties turned on. I still suggest waiting to pull the fungicide trigger till we get full tassel/silk as the hot weather will slow it down. Thanks to @purdueppdl for providing images of stromata and ascospores. @PurdueCorn @PurdueExtension…
