The Collision Investigation Unit responded to Bates St. & 2nd Ave. for a scooter that ran a red light, striking the side of an SUV. Medics transported the male rider to the hospital in critical condition. The vehicle driver remained on scene. The investigation is ongoing.

The Collision Investigation Unit was at the scene of a single motorcycle crash at E. Carson St. and Arlington Ave. just after 3 a.m. Medics transported the male rider in critical condition. He was last listed as stable. The cause appears to be air loss in the front tire.

On this day, we remember our brother and friend, Pittsburgh Police Officer Calvin Hall, who lost his life on July 17, 2019. His words "Time for me to make a difference" are written outside the Officer Calvin M. Hall Public Safety Center where he worked and for which it is named.
Police are investigating a single vehicle rollover crash in the 1200 block of Beechwood Blvd. involving four juvenile male occupants. One male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Medics transported one patient in critical condition and two others in stable condition.

VCU detectives are investigating after two people were shot in Perry South. Both adult male victims suffered gunshot wounds to the back. Medics transported the male located on Osgood St. in stable condition. The male found on Lyzell St. was last listed as critical, but stable.
Police and EMS responded to a motorcycle crash on the inbound side of the Armstrong Tunnel at ~ 12:25 a.m. The 19-year-old male rider was transported in critical condition. He was pronounced deceased a short time later. The Collision Investigation Unit is investigating.

VCU detectives are investigating after two people were shot in Perry South. Both adult male victims suffered gunshot wounds to the back. Medics transported the male located on Osgood St. in stable condition. The male found on Lyzell St. was last listed as critical, but stable.

Police responded to two ShotSpotter alerts totaling 13 rounds in the 7200 block of Race St. Arriving units located a male victim with a gunshot wound to his lower back. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.

At ~6pm, Police responded to Bausman St. for a domestic disturbance w/an assault. When officers arrived at the residence, the actor barricaded herself inside. SWAT was called out. She was ultimately taken into custody w/o further incident at ~10:20pm. Charges are forthcoming.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Firefighters and EMS responded to a structure fire in the 700 block of Brushton Avenue in Homewood South. The Fire Investigation Unit was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. More information: bit.ly/4kwHADh

EMS Crew Shoutout! Recently the crews of Medic 2 & 8 assisted with the delivery of a baby who came into the world a little sooner than expected. The crews provided outstanding critical care for both mother and baby, who were in stable condition upon arrival at the hospital.
Last night, the Department of Public Safety had a fantastic time at the City in the Streets event at Liberty Green Park in East Liberty. We enjoyed connecting with residents, sharing important safety resources, and being part of such a vibrant community gathering.
