#otd, 1733, William Graves died. His surname is ironic considering that he was the Keeper of Bunhill Fields 1713-1733.

#otd, 1867, after years of efforts from multiple parties, the Bunhill Fields Preservation Act is given royal assent and authority, guaranteeing the burial ground to remain as a public space, as it is to this day. It had closed in 1852, and its future was uncertain until this act.

#otd, also a Friday, 1789, John Rippon Sr. and Jr. went to Bunhill Fields and began transcribing the inscriptions on the tombs. They would continue to do this for the next 35 years.

#otd, 1689, Nehemiah Coxe signed his last will and testament. Coxe was gravely ill and expected to die very soon.

For a while, I really thought that someone (who was buried in Bunhill Fields) was stuck with the unfortunate surname, "Backstench." And I had so many questions.

Never forget that Fritz Lang, the dictatorial director of classic German silents like Metropolis (1927), literally wore a monocle.
Hercules Collins quotes 2LCF's appendix in his preface to An Orthodox Catechism (1680). It was probably a fairly common kind of expression, but he uses the exact words.

#otd, 1764, Elizabeth Harrison signed her will. She was the daughter of Thomas Harrison, and granddaughter of Edward Harrison. Elizabeth authored several books, including one positively reviewed by Samuel Johnson. She died the next year and is buried in Bunhill Fields.
