Thanks for your important piece on gambling regulation reform. As joint lead with @DavidSidwickPCC on the National Criminal Justice Gambling Taskforce, I welcome the call for tougher legislation, and we are calling for prevention levy to deter crime and support victims.
Two years and ten months in prison for causing serious injury by dangerous driving. That’s less time than the “sycamore gap vandals” got.

Our roundtable on faith & criminal justice was a powerful reminder of the role faith can play in rehabilitation, recovery & reducing reoffending. Thanks to @CuthsSociety for hosting a truly memorable ‘faith’ inspired discussion with @durhamcathedral bells making presence felt.
Great to host the latest roundtable of @DurhamPCC tonight on 'faith & criminal justice' - and with the 🔔🔔 @durhamcathedral in the background! As ever, it was a privilege to learn from those on the front line. Both our Principal & Vice-Principal are part of this initiative. 🎓

Our criminal courts are in crisis, with tens of thousands of victims waiting years for justice. I welcome the Leveson Review’s bold reforms - though not without reservation. Change will take time, and victims must be properly supported. My statement: 🔗victimscommissioner.org.uk/news/leveson-r…
It’s going to be a hot one today! The good news for most of us is it’s Friday and the end of the working week. If you’re hot and bothered at the end of a long week then a few cold drinks after work tonight would be great right? We agree… but if you’re driving make sure they…
📢 New @APPGAlcoholHarm report out! Alcohol harm is rising, costing lives & damaging communities. 🗣️ @grahamemorris MP: “The time to act is now.” We need a national Alcohol Strategy to: ✅ Reduce harm ✅ Expand support ✅ Protect public health #AlcoholHarm #PublicHealth

An underage driver bought a £100 death trap via social media. No ID. No checks. No justice. An 18-year-old lost his life—& the seller faced no consequences. This must change ✍️ Sign the petition for safer secondhand car sales: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7175… #RoadSafety #LifeIsPrecious
As well as deterring offending, the anti-crime pods are hugely reassuring for retailers and shopworkers and can provide them with a renewed sense of confidence as they go about their work. Great work @DurhamPolice thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/25279139.…

Driving dangerously – whether though speeding, drink or drugs, using a mobile phone or some other means – claims lives, and irreparably ruins others. #lifeisprecious
🚛A road safety campaign highlighting the consequences of ‘Fatal Four’ driving offences will be visible across the UK thanks to family run haulage firm Katem Logistics. The striking lorry wrap will work to drive home the #LifeIsPrecious message. 👀🔗bit.ly/Durham331

A huge thank you for all the support today. @1687lucy and I were terrified before going live on @GMB but we found our courage — for Lily-May, Lucy’s brother Peter, and all families bereaved by road crime. Our laws are outdated. Change is coming. Let’s keep pushing. @RoadPeace
Thankfully Dan survived the road traffic collision and now, please listen to his important message ⬇️ @DurhamPolice @NewcastleHosps @DurhamCouncil @PccJoyAllen @ColletteJHowe @BBCNews @TheNorthernEcho bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
