Support for young drivers : UK country by country differences. @niexecutive will implement stronger licensing to support their young drivers (agreed in 2016) but not yet implemented! @niassembly @carlalockhart @deptinfra - it’d be good to hear a date. 👍🏻 @FionaHyslop @scotgov…

Did you know that national Government fund £0.00 for the support for road crime or road collision victims? Did you know that national Government fund many £ millions for the support of a much smaller number of victims of homicide and terrorism? If Government is to fund the…
Marking the work of @Brakecharity this week to support the victims of road death and serious injury. Hoping for progress with reducing road danger to #StopRoadDeath
The message this sends about the consequences of speeding / road danger is simply appalling. It says: ✖️ Don’t worry about breaking the same law 4 times in 3 years - we will just ‘slap your hand’ (ie a 14 day ban when Parliament is shut - isn’t the tariff at least a 6 month…

This was 2 years ago @RicHolden and back into (shadow) transport. Congratulations! #StopRoadDeath
Travelling home after a very positive meeting with @RicHolden Roads Minister & my MP @FabianLeedsNE discussing the need for action on road safety. Looking forward to some strong and rapid progress to avoid road death & serious injury from both Gvt & opposition. Thanks to both!
#TalkAboutRoadDeath Just over a year ago @PACTS was instrumental in bringing together more than 100 organisations involved with road death, road crime and road danger in support of a Manifesto calling for action ⬇️ pacts.org.uk/15769-2/ A huge achievement 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Including ……

➡️ Since then, speeding offences on Stanningley Bypass are down from 4,317 in 2022 to just 833 in 2024. ➡️ Injury collisions on Stanningley Bypass have also decreased from 95 in the five years before the cameras to eight in the 18 months since installation.
In Autumn 2023, Leeds City Council introduced West Yorkshire’s first average speed cameras on the A647 and A6210 to: ➡️ Reduce speeding ➡️ Reduce collisions ➡️ Improve road safety Speed limits on two of the most dangerous routes were also reduced to 50mph.
These posts are in memoriam to those killed whilst building the @QburyTunnel Queensbury tunnel under the beautiful hills between Halifax and Bradford. Many local folk won’t be able to afford an EV but would walk or cycle on this closed railway line. @JudithCummins…
£650 million to subsidise EVs & so more cars on stuffed roads, but we can’t afford £16 million to restore beautiful Victorian infrastructure. Political priorities @MayorOfWY @Heidi_Labour @SHinchcliffe This is the wrong priority! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
£3,750 discount for drivers. Where’s the road safety strategy? Still waiting for the promised “unprecedented investment in active travel” too! Those of lower incomes can’t afford a new car, never mind an EV. Have we just seen more evidence of ‘A plan for drivers’ part 2?…

Bravery and inspiration from pure devastation and tragedy 💔 Please listen to the message from @lmvaughan11 ⬇️ Please discuss these real risks with your young and inexperienced drivers. #StopRoadDeath bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Have you got footage of dangerous driving on the roads of West Yorkshire? Make sure you submit it to West Yorkshire Police! Action was taken against this driver after another road user sent the video in. Visit westyorkshire.police.uk/SaferRoadsSubm…
Straying from my brief …. Government priorities - other than to #StopRoadDeath - obviously If we had an unreal choice between votes for older children or sorting out social care for our relatives and for the NHS I am 100% with sorting out social care - but seems…
Talking on a mobile phone while driving, even hands-free, gives you similar reaction times as a drunk driver. So it seems quite irresponsible to take it one step further and integrate Microsoft Teams video calling into a car's in-built system. theverge.com/news/708481/mi…
Dear Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker - is this “oops” or is it “I don’t care” ? Either way this is such a bad example to give to millions of future drivers from @harrypotter bbc.com/news/articles/…
