Really excited to share my lab has received an 8 year Wellcome CDA. This long-term funding will allow my group to dissect the molecular logic underlying local protein synthesis during synaptic plasticity. (1/3)
Supported by renewed NIH funding, we are recruiting a postdoc! We are a developmental cell biology group, & we β€οΈ centrosomes and RNA localization. To learn more about our research and team, visit leritlab.org Apply here: faculty-emory.icims.com/jobs/149999/poβ¦
New preprint! We solve a mystery you didn't know existed. Mitotic cells lack new transcription but require ongoing translation. Interphase mRNA half life is only 2-4 hrs. So how do cells arrest in mitosis for hours without depleting their transcriptomes? biorxiv.org/content/10.110β¦
Finally! My PhD work is out in @JCellBiol π Thanks to everyone involved at @LabYuseff, @sarahdezperez and @mattilalab . It took a while but was completely worth it π
.@LabYuseff @uc_chile show that B cells respond to mechanical cues at the immune synapse through ATAT1-dependent microtubule acetylation to coordinate cytoskeletal dynamics & lysosome positioning, enhancing antigen extraction and presentation hubs.la/Q03y2G-f0
My 13 year old chonkmonster has discovered gabapentin makes his 1 year old sister remarkably more tolerable.

Itβs always a bit awkward to write about personal experiences. I tried to touch on what Pride means to me and ended up reflecting on heteronormativity, passing, and allyship. Thank you @NatureCellBio and Stelios for the opportunity! @reNEW_Global #LGBTQIA nature.com/articles/s4155β¦
My shadow undersecretary while Iβm reading a pile of grant proposals. Her devotion is due to payment in the form of laser pointer chase time each time I read a proposal.

Early morning stroll along the water of leith.

Enjoy the imported, tariff free, Scottish weather- San Diegoburgh.

Decided to celebrate my 38th by investigating the persistent rumours that the sky could be blue and feature a glowing ball of light. Can confirm- very perplexing.

What an inspiring RNA-packed afternoon! A huge thank you to @PDA_PhD and @Aik_Gatsiou for two brilliant talks, and to everyone who joined us for a great session full of science, questions, and RNA excitement. Always a pleasure to spend the afternoon geeking out together!
Understanding where, when and why neurons make proteins locally is key to unlocking the secrets of learning and memory. Dr Donlin-Asp @PDA_PhD βs research reveals how mRNA transport and translation are finely tuned at synapses. Donβt miss this cutting-edge science @EdinburghUni
We will put forward a 500 million package for 2025-2027 to make Europe a magnet for researchers. As well as ambitious proposals for R&I in the next EU budget. We will also offer the best and brightest the right incentives to come to Europe β
