People in the Roman denomination don’t like being called a denomination.
Catholicism is not a denomination. That’s a Protestant concept. It’s just plain old Christianity. Plus a Protestant who becomes Catholic is reminded by many amongst Protestants that he is not (and perhaps never was) a Christian. If it was a denomination that would never be said.
