The disparity between income/rent in Ohio has more than doubled since 2020, and the average age of a first-time homebuyer is the oldest it's ever been. Sen. @KentKSmith discusses how Republicans helped create today’s affordability crisis in this week’s #ICYMI: Statehouse Edition
As we celebrate America's 249th birthday, I think we need a Declaration of Resistance. Because it is all one fight. I explain in this week's ICYMI Statehouse Edition. Happy Independence Day.
In this week’s #ICYMI: Statehouse Edition, Senator @KentKSmith reflects on how today’s fight to protect our democracy compares to the fight our country faced 249 years ago when the Declaration of Independence was signed. 🇺🇸
Happy #IndependenceDay! As we celebrate our country's independence today, we also acknowledge our continued fight to fulfill the promise of true liberty and justice for all.

The General Assembly passed the two-year operating budget this week, and it included a $600 million handout to the billionaire owners of the Cleveland Browns, paid for by the people of Ohio. Senator @KentKSmith discusses in this week's #ICYMI.

A snippet from my floor speech yesterday on the State Budget: Moments like this call for deep reflection on the work we’re doing. Public service is a privilege, one that should never be taken for granted, misused, or abused. We entered this work to serve the people. But…
Today I cast my no vote on the Republican “Billionaire Budget”. This budget guts schools, libraries, and social services to fund tax cuts for the 1% and a stadium for a losing team. ohiosenate.gov/members/willia…
While there are some positive funding items in this budget, I voted "no" because it does not support the vast majority of Ohioans. At every step, the voices of the masses and due process were ignored. This budget represents the interests of the few at the expense of the many.
This budget is bad in many ways - but here are 3: 1 Another tax cut for those who least need it. 2 Not funding public schools. 3 A $600 million giveaway for a project that wont get built. => Smith Votes Against Republican State Budget ohiosenate.gov/members/kent-s… via @OhioSenateDems
For the first time since 2001, every single Democrat in the Ohio General Assembly voted against the majority party's budget. To Senator @KentKSmith, it's the worst collection of state public education policies he's ever seen. He explains why in this week's #ICYMI.
Happy Juneteenth, Ohio! This week, Senator @HearcelCraig hosted a flag raising ceremony at the Ohio Statehouse in celebration. “This historic event marks the first time the Juneteenth flag has been flown at the Ohio Statehouse in our state’s 222-year history,” said Sen. Craig.
Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio and House Democratic Leader Allison Russo issued statements concerning the politically motivated attack on two Minnesota state lawmakers.
