J.J. McCarthy No Matter What

Not a ton of takeaways from Vikings training camp today — was a lot of detailed red zone work, nailing down a ton of the minor intricacies of the offense. Thought this Ryan Kelly comment on J.J. McCarthy was relevant, though:

So some competing smart team is going to sign Wilkins, let him recover over the entire season, activate him for the playoffs, let him dominate, and then let him walk in March and collect a comp pick. Hope you like Philadelphia, Christian.

Dianna is just waiting for the opportunity to 2nd guess their decision on Rodgers. Literally can’t wait for that first bad game by McCarthy - which is fine, she took some heat on that reporting. Hope to hear her walk back some of her personal analysis if JJ does well too.

Think this is a good take for Mr. Mankato. Think we are going to see an increase in focus on TEs in this offense.

First #Bears practice is in the books and there were some growing pains. Ben Johnson got on Caleb & the first-team multiple times, and eventually pulled the entire unit in 7-on-7s after they couldn't get lined up twice in a row. No sign of Luther Burden.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that Tretter led a hiring process that resulted in the players being charmed with a potential sociopath who lacked an understanding of ethics and now they won’t accept responsibility for that hire or hold themselves accountable to a better process

Seems like they are treating the leadership of the NFLPA as teammates that they want to remain loyal to because they wear the same jersey. These guys are mercenaries with a fiduciary responsibility to secure wins. Not thinking that way is how you actually let your team down.

The players seem to care more about the appearance of a successful union than an actually successful union by doubling down on previous mistakes. The fact that they wanted Howell/Tretter to stay despite everything that’s come out reflects that. They need to wake up.

You either see the vision or you don’t. Some need to see it to believe, others can see the signs and take the leap on less. We shall see soon.
