Since the very dawn of time an awful lot of stuff has happened. nameless_weevil at http://mastodon.ie and the other place.
I saw Iraq 2003 as the Western rehabilitation of aggressive war, and it seems like Gaza 2023 is going to be the year that the West abandons the idea of the distinction between the military and the civillian. Arguably sanctions have softened us up for this.
It was revealed that Israel deliberately killed the family of Journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh and threatened to kill him if he stayed in Gaza. A senior American official told the Prime Minister of Qatar that Al-Dahdouh must be removed from the front lines or he too will be killed.
The Omar El Akkad "one day everyone will be against this" tweet was on October 25th, 2023. Me, probably you, everybody with a head on their shoulders knew that Israel had genocidal intent from the beginning. There have been no surprises about Gaza save the degree of inaction.
"force Tehran into standing down" meaning what? Stop firing back?
"Israel would have been overwhelmed" is burying the lede. Israel was conducting a limited war. If air defenses got close to collapse, Israel would have escalated to force Tehran into standing down. Critical infra and/or more extensive targeting of leadership come to mind.
Israel obviously deserves a Dresden aerial campaign, every day for a generation. But we’re even more fucking rotten as a country. I can’t think of very many places where the elected officials would be surprised that a genocide they facilitated could end up looking bad
Gaza is on the brink of mass starvation. Israel, the U.S. and the international community must collaborate to ensure a massive surge of humanitarian relief immediately. This war must end. And let’s be clear: Hamas could end it today if they wanted to. Israel has agreed to a…
fucked up this morning and got actually upset over the mass starvation of people instead of emotionally burying it in order to just go to work like everything’s normal.
good grief lmao
Yeah, it’s the norm now. I’m 6’3, masters degree, drive a beautiful Mustang GT, martial artist, self-published author- and I haven’t dated an American girl since 2017. It’s a broken culture; all the good women are overseas.
Been trying to finish this for over 24 hours but can only get through a couple sentences at a time. Everybody who caused this should be dead. archive.is/tjF3w
if you're wondering why 'the dam has broken' on Gaza, it's simple. Israel carried out their final solution. It's done. Every town has been flattened, everyone still alive is experiencing a level of famine they can't come back from. Criticizing it now is too late. That's why.
I'm not sure that people realize how abnormal it is for journalists to be killed in wars. More have been killed in Gaza (232) than in the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War (+Cambodia and Laos), the Yugoslav wars, and the Afghanistan war, combined.
Breaking: An Israeli airstrike just killed Adam Yahya Abu Harbid, a cameraman for Al-Quds Al-Youm channel, along with all members of his family, after targeting their tent in Al-Yarmouk market in Gaza City.
Israeli children were seen trampling on humanitarian aid intended for Gaza, obstructing the delivery of food to its residents.
The longest political imprisonment in Western Europe. Although his sentence ended in 1999, France has kept him behind bars under direct U.S.-Israeli pressure. Georges Abdallah a Lebanese freedom fighter imprisoned in France since 1984 for supporting the Palestinian resistance.
🇱🇧 Lebanese prisoner George Abdallah arrived in Beirut following his release after 40 years in French prisons.
That’s 28 million deaths caused by sanctions *alone*. The genocidal death toll imposed by imperialism on humanity year after year dwarfs even the most fanciful figures conjured up by “victims of communism” foundations.
New research published by the Lancet finds that economic sanctions imposed by the USA and EU are associated with more than 500,000 deaths per year since 1970, five times more than deaths by war. thelancet.com/journals/langl…
oh cool we're moving into the "wrong for the right reasons" phase of this atrocity
I think I was right to support Israel’s right to defend itself, but wrong to disbelieve pro-Palestinian guests who told me that Israel’s hard-right govt would try to expel all Palestinians from Gaza. I now think that is indeed the plan.
My very grim theory is they had early sight of a formal famine declaration, including a prediction that the extent of malnutrition is such that many will die, regardless of any possible aid surge. The pictures will only get worse.
Fascinating shift on Israel in the last few days from a very wide range of center-left politicians & voices that had previously defended the country’s conduct
I know this news doesn't matter to the world: The number of deaths from famine and malnutrition has risen to 122, including 83 children so far.
"We are just kids" As Minister Jim prepare another deportation flight we are mobilising asylum seekers and Activists for massive Rallies outside the Department of Justice. Seeking asylum is a human rights. #RefugeesWelcome #StopDeportations
This site is censoring photos of brutal starvation of children by Israel... until it estimates my age??
To all the people who said I'd never amount to anything: you were right. But at least Alexei Sayle is in my new show! 😍
