Not every moment of your life needs to be productive. Rest is productive too, just not capitalist-approved because it’s not profitable in a monetary sense. Our world profits from exhaustion and as a result sees ‘rest’ as ‘laziness’. Rest doesn’t need to be earned.

In Arabic, we have a saying: ‘aṣ-ṣāḥib sāḥib’ which translates to ‘a friend is a puller’. What we mean is that a friend is like a magnet who pulls you wherever he goes, be it good or bad. Choose your friends wisely. You don’t know where they might be taking you.
We’re not meant to be numb. You’re not meant to look away. That ache in your chest? That anger in your gut? That feeling you can’t shake that makes you feel like the world should suffer and tremble to finally wake up and put an end to this? That’s your humanity refusing to die.
