(Extra)Cellular Cancer Biology @UChicagoCCB.
Launched today- the Weill Cancer Hub West -supporting transformative cancer research collaborations btw @UCSF & @Stanford. Honored to co-lead, with @longlabstanford, our team who will study the impact of diet on pancreatic cancer initiation, progression and therapy response.
Backed by a $100M gift from Joan and Sandy Weill, UCSF and @StanfordMed @StanfordCancer are launching Weill Cancer Hub West, a $200M initiative in team science to accelerate cancer research and improve care over the next decade. tiny.ucsf.edu/ppVRqt
Congrats to Dr. @PatrickJonker4 for successfully defending his @UChicagoCCB thesis yesterday!

We all know that weight loss in obesity is good- but why does it help? And why is weight regain afterward harmful? 🤔 Excited to announce our new paper is finally out in @JClinicalInvest! 🚀👇 jci.org/articles/view/…
🚨Postdoctoral position available now! 🚨We have an immediate fully funded position available in cardiac metabolism. We are looking for a highly motivated person to lead our animal model work in oxidative metabolism in heart! Pay is competitive with benefits offered. 1/2
‼️Excited to share my first preprint in the Stegmaier lab – using metabolite depletion screens in physiological culture medium and in vitro/in vivo CRISPR screens, we identify metabolism of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) as a potent dependency in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). A 🧵…

New from the Lengyel/Kenny Lab: our study in @Cancer_Cell with @labs_mann charts how borderline ovarian tumors evolve into low-grade serous ovarian cancer, using spatial proteo-transcriptomics to uncover molecular drivers & potential therapeutic targets. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Our faculty in the media!! Dr. Shergill is on @EverydayHealth talking about the rise in appendix cancer in GenX/millenial groups-- part of the rising rates of cancer diagnoses in young people. Learn more from Dr. Shergill at everydayhealth.com/cancer/appendi…
Excited to share our latest study from the Manning Lab. We have developed and characterized a novel mouse model lacking the five AKT phosphorylation sites on the TSC2 protein, which are critical for AKT-mediated activation of mTORC1 signaling.
Online now: AKT-mediated phosphorylation of TSC2 controls stimulus- and tissue-specific mTORC1 signaling and organ growth dlvr.it/TLBR9Q
📢New @KFW_Lab paper out! AML mitochondria remain unperturbed & phenotypically stable under diverse nutrient conditions. And rather than specific nutrients or physiological relevance, AML cell proliferation is influenced by the complete nutrient profile 👉 cancerandmetabolism.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
Very cool, congratulations!
Congrats @HosungBae @Sunhee_Jung_ Johnny and co-authors for their work! @CellCellPress sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Our paper @SciImmunology shows certain lipids are responsible for the immunosupression of ascites & propose blocking lipid uptake thru SCARB1 may help immunotherapy success in ovarian cancer. Wonderful to collaborate with @donalb5 again, Marcia Haigis & super postdoc @_Karen__S_
Scientists have uncovered how abdominal fluid called ascites in patients with high-grade serous #OvarianCancer suppresses antitumor cytotoxicity in #NaturalKiller cells. @lynchielydia @_Karen__S @donalb5 Learn more in Science #Immunology: scim.ag/43uqCz9
