Attn eVOLVER users & enthusiasts. 2 BIG developments! 1) New open-source eVOLVER wiki, which will be a hub for guides and documentation: khalil-lab.gitbook.io/evolver/ 2) eVOLVER software version 2.0 is now available! Read about the new features on the forum: evolver.bio/t/evolver-wiki…
Good news. After 2 rounds of venetoclax, GO, + chemo, my daughter has had a complete response. No detectable signs of the tumor that had completely shut her eye, which she was dangerously close to losing. 🙏🏾 to the amazing team @StJude & the community for helping us get here.
These results represent the first use of prime editing to rescue a neurological disease in animals, establish that in vivo postnatal intervention in AHC’s pathology is possible, and suggest the potential of a one-time prime editing treatment for AHC. (Photo:…
We traveled to DC to talk to Congressional Staffers about the impact of @NIH @NIBIBgov funding. It enables us to develop synthetic biology tools to advance cell & genetic medicines for patients in need. REPOST to deliver the message that SCIENCE saves lives & makes America great!

I hailed a Tesla Model 3, according to Uber-equivalent in Cairo 😂😂

So cool, a novel archaeon with a super small genome and no metabolic genes! "An unprecedented level of metabolic dependence on a host, a condition that challenges the functional distinctions between minimal cellular life and viruses." biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Our latest work is on the cover of @Nature (June 26, 2025)! Even more special: the stunning illustration was hand-drawn by first author Hao Sheng — a true scientist-artist.
Synthetic biology could enable new types of programmable therapeutics. Our new preprint introduces synthetic protein circuits that selectively trigger cell death in Ras-mutant cancer cells, with interesting advantages compared to existing approaches. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
I wrote an Op-Ed about the government's attacks on Harvard. Please share with anybody who thinks these attacks help anybody. prosyn.org/PhWi74r?h=KyJ1…
I discuss the urgent crisis from the loss of federal support of science in the US and recent clinical gene editing breakthroughs with @WalterIsaacson & @amanpour on @AmanpourCoPBS, airing on @PBS tonight at 11 pm ET, and on @cnni earlier today. Pls share! youtube.com/watch?v=8YhJM6…
Today in @ScienceMagazine we report the development of a laboratory-evolved CRISPR-associated transposase (evoCAST) that supports therapeutically relevant levels of RNA-programmable gene insertion in human cells, a collaboration with @SternbergLab. 1/13 drive.google.com/file/d/1I-UbCR…
