NEW 🇵🇸 My article in today’s @heraldscotland on Glasgow University’s links to MBDA, the missile group complicit in killing dozens of children in Gaza. The institution is “benefitting from the proceeds of genocide,” says Rector @GhassanAbuSitt1. heraldscotland.com/news/25328874.…
My piece in today’s @heraldscotland.
'The University of Glasgow has financially benefited from the proceeds of the genocide' 👇
The problem with this thread is that it’s so exhaustingly predictable that Chat GPT could have written it. Old rhetoric disguising a complete absence of vision — and a decade of failed governance. Thoroughly uninspiring.
🧵1/ I’m in politics because I believe Scotland can do so much better with independence. In 2014, we imagined a fairer, more confident country. That vision didn’t fade - in fact, and it’s more urgent and needed more than ever.
Today, in Botatá, Colombia, 12 nations of conscience agreed to take the six concrete actions below to strike a blow against Israel’s impunity. @FranceskAlbs hailed the declaration as a “momentous step forward”.

BREAKING 🇨🇴🇵🇸 States announce unprecedented measures to halt the Gaza genocide at emergency conference convened by The Hague Group in Bogotá, Colombia.
LIVE FROM BOGOTÁ 🇨🇴🇺🇳 Francesca Albanese (@FranceskAlbs) delivers a powerful message to the Palestinian people, and all those who stand by them, at the Emergency Conference to halt the Gaza genocide.
This kind of vacuous nonsense epitomises how dire Scotland’s political culture has become. Among a governing class devoid of imagination, empty sentiment has taken the place of meaningful political intervention. When there is no challenge, the latter is simply not required.
Dear Europe, thank you for standing with Scotland. We are a proudly European nation and our future belongs in the EU. We’re working on it! 🇪🇺🏴
"We meet in Bogotá with a twin imperative: to end Israel's impunity and sever the cords of complicity." 🇨🇴🇿🇦🇵🇸 Read more from @VarshaGandikota, Executive Secretary of The Hague Group, in the @heraldscotland. buff.ly/MlmwOyt
It’s set to be historic. Since the publication of the article, the total number of states coming to Bogotá has increased to 31 states. The fruit of the growing outrage for the genocide, its impunity, and the impotence of international law.
Wow, 20 countries - including China (!) - are meeting in Bogota this coming week to declare “concrete measures against Israel’s violations of international law.” The states due to take part in the summit include Algeria, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia,…
👀
“This conference will go down in history as the moment states finally stood up to do the right thing.” — @FranceskAlbs 🇨🇴🇿🇦🇵🇸
An honour for me to interview a personal hero @ScotNational : the Holocaust survivor, Hungarian revolutionary and stalwart for the cause of Gaza, Stephen Kapos. He’s coming to speak in Glasgow on 22 July @stwscotland - really not to be missed. thenational.scot/news/25309584.…
